World's biggest indoor scoreboard uses Absen

Orlando, Florida, USA (February 22, 2018) –Absen Inc., a global leader in LED display solutions, announced today its recent collaboration with Trans-Lux Corporation as LED solution partner on the Prudential Center, home of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. Celebrated as the world’s largest center hung LED scoreboard, it weighs in at 88,401 pounds and contains a record breaking 29 Million pixels.

In order to successfully pull off a project of this magnitude, Trans-Lux needed to find the right technology solution partners. Overall, the project created a complex integration element that involved 15 different technologies. “For the LED component, Absen proved to be the perfect partner to work with as we designed a fully integrated Trans-Lux solution.” stated Jean-Marc Allain, President and CEO of Trans-Lux. “The Absen team attended to our every need, especially on the delivery side, from start to finish.”

From last place to first overnight
Prudential Center had one goal in mind when they approached Trans-Lux in May and that was to design a scoreboard that would bring the best fan experience ever seen. In fact, the multi-million project has propelled the Center’s scoreboard ranking from last to now first in overall size when compared to other major arenas. It also is the NHL’s first 4K digital display scoreboard.

Recently unveiled for the Devil’s opening game in early October, the nearly four stories tall scoreboard covers 9,584.9 square feet and features overall dimensions of 60′- 4.8125″ wide x 38′-1.625″ height with main displays of 49′-1.625″ wide x 27′-4.8124 height. In addition to the scoreboard, Absen and Trans-Lux also worked together in designing a custom solution for the 10mm LED ribbons circling the arena.

“This simply wouldn’t have been possible three years ago,” said John C. Hammock, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Trans-Lux. “Thanks to recent technology advancements, smaller pixel pitches and more competitive price points, we were able to provide an LED solution with far richer imagery and higher definition than ever before.”
