The Calm Before the Storm: A Week Before InfoComm

InfoComm 2022 is just around the corner. It feels like I’ve been saying that for months now, but this time I mean it. My team put so much work and preparation behind the scenes to make sure this event runs smoothly for us. Since joining AVNation Media in August 2021, I just heard whispers of what goes on at InfoComm. And now, I will be making my debut on the tradeshow floor.

For those of you I haven’t properly met, my name is Taylor Ryan Moore and I am one of the editors and writers for AVNation Media. If you’ve sent in a press release, read an article on this site, follow our social media accounts, or received a Monday Morning Notes newsletter chances are I have had a hand in making it. When I started working here, I had no real grasp of the AV industry. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a commercial TV and a professional display, what the purpose of a touch panel does, or what an AV rack system is. Now, almost a year in and I have a better understanding of the industry as a whole.

This will be my first time at a tradeshow and I couldn’t be more excited and nervous at the same time. Deemed one of the largest tradeshows in the country, InfoComm brings together integrators, manufacturers, and other industry professionals under one roof for an extraordinary event. I have no idea what I should expect, however, I have a lot of predictions on what I think might happen. So, based on what others have told me and doing my own research scrolling through Twitter, here is how I think my InfoComm experience will go and what to anticipate.

New Friends, New Memories

Like everyone else during the pandemic, a lot of my interaction with people has been over a webcam and a computer screen. Numerous conversations have taken place through email, so I am excited to finally put a face to the names that have come across my inbox. By the time I leave Las Vegas, I would have made not only new friends in the industry but also make memories I can tell my friends back at home. I can’t wait to see everyone’s smiling faces!

Although I am extremely excited about the tradeshow itself, I am even more excited about the afterparties. As someone not too far removed from college, I love a good party. That’s where you get to see people let their hair down and throw caution to the wind. I know AVNation throws THE hottest afterparty at InfoComm so I can’t wait to see what others have to offer.

Products Up Close and Personal

One aspect I am excited about is finally seeing all these new solutions in person. InfoComm feels like the perfect place to finally see some of the new hardware up close and in action. No particular product is on my “Must See” list at the moment, but I am excited to hear from everyone else what they are most excited to check out.

No matter the outcome, I know I am going to have a memorable time and I can’t wait to share my experience with everyone!
