If you didn’t think we could more niche than looking at the residential side of the AV industry, maybe we should consider talking about mallard-based call decoys. Let’s stick with the AV news instead. With us to do just that is CEO of Josh.ai Alex Capecelatro and Principal for Fregosa Design Rich Fregosa.

IHG Hotel and Resorts are partnering with Josh.ai to create a voice-controlled smart room for the Kimpton Rowan hotel in Palm Springs. Smart technology in hotel spaces has been an uphill battle with the concerns of privacy when it comes to voice assistants and data. We’re lucky enough to have Alex here to discuss how this partnership came to be, and talk about what smart technology could make its way into the guestroom space.

AtlasIED’s Michael Peveler sat down with Jason Knott of CE Pro to discuss the resimercial opportunities of their Atmosphere platform for integrators. AVNation was invovled in Atmosphere’s launch back in 2020, probably best remembered for all of those pictures of Tim running to or from something. But it also showcased the Atmosphere platform, suited for use in light commercial environment such as bars, hotels and houses of worship. The platform could be the best step for integrator usually focused on residential spaces to dip their proverbial toes into the world of commercial work. We discuss that thing called resimercial and what it could provide for integrators on only one side of the fence.

Josh.ai isn’t just getting into the hotel space, Alex himself will be on the TV screen representing the AV space as part of fyi’s newest show Smart Home Nation which premiered this Monday. We discuss what it means for the AV industry to get this kind of exposure in a larger capacity and what it takes to inform those out of the loop of what our industry does and is capable of.
