AVWeek 633: Quantum AV

And The Award Goes To…

It’s time to look at the biggest stories surrounding the commercial side of the AV industry, and discuss them with some industry experts. Joining us this week is AV Veteran Dawn Meade, Director of Product Marketing & Training for Mersive as well as one of the hosts of Women in AV Erica Carroll, and Futurist & Host of XR Star Amelia Kallman.

Zoomtopia was held last week, showcasing new and previously announced features like Zoom Docs and Zoom AI Companion. Zoom is definitely making their move in the unified communications space to compete with Microsoft Teams and their suite of products. Will it be enough? We discuss the biggest things from Zoomtopia and what it means for UC moving forward.

AV technology has won a Nobel Prize! Now that the clickbait title is out of the way, the award is more specified towards quantum dots and LED technology. Alexi Ekimov, Louis Brus and Moungi Bawendi have been award the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2023 for their development in the space. We talk about what it means for a technology like this to be award-worthy, and ponder on previous discoveries within the AV field that deserve some recognition.

The MSG Sphere in Las Vegas is finally open, with U2 christening the establishment. We’ve talked this place up so much in the past few months just because it’s a perfect showcase of what AV solutions can do on a massive entertaining scale. Can we bring any of this technology into the office space, or somewhere else? Where AV experience can really make a difference.
