The Camellias is an 18-acre luxury residential development in New Delhi, India, comprising 429 exclusive residences anchored by an expansive 160,000-square-foot clubhouse. Named after one of Asia’s most beautiful native plant species, the camellia, the project draws inspiration from the flower’s exquisite blossoms and rich spectrum of colors, reflecting elegance and refinement throughout the development. Architecturally striking from the very first glimpse, The Camellias encompass 16 towers ranging from 18 to 38 stories.

The scale and sophistication of The Camellias demanded a control platform that was not only robust and scalable but also flexible enough to support extensive customization, seamless third-party integrations, and a high volume of control interfaces. The client’s vision extended beyond luxury to create a wellness-focused lifestyle destination where technology remained largely invisible, while still offering comfort, personalization, and flexibility.

MCBEE delivered a fully integrated AV and automation system capable of managing a diverse range of spaces — from the restaurant, bar, cinema, spa, and gym to the bowling alley, sports zones, children’s areas, and expansive outdoor facilities. The custom Crestron solution centralizes AV control, lighting, HVAC, security, and wellness systems into a consistent, user-friendly interface that doesn’t compromise user experience or design integrity.

A fully custom Crestron solution was required to meet the demands of this expansive, highly sophisticated property. The scale of the installation resulted in more than 200 unique GUI pages and an automation framework that responds dynamically to energy zones throughout the site. By integrating DALI® lighting control, DMX, and HVAC systems seamlessly within the Crestron ecosystem, the project delivers centralized intelligence and a consistent user experience across all spaces.

Server-based controls extend throughout the clubhouse, residential towers, and outdoor environments, ensuring that system performance remains reliable and synchronized at all times. As India’s first LEED Platinum-certified residential project, The Camellias sets a benchmark for sustainable luxury, and the technology infrastructure was designed to uphold this commitment. Crestron occupancy sensors placed across the property help minimize energy consumption by automatically adjusting settings in unused areas.

Five distinct energy zones were engineered to create unique, uninterrupted experiences for residents and guests. To achieve this, the lighting, music, and HVAC systems were carefully preprogrammed according to zone type and time of day, ensuring that each environment aligns with its intended mood and energy level. Crestron DM NAX® Audio-over-IP solutions were further curated per zone to complement these atmospheres, while DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology streams content from 16 sources to 55 displays with low latency and exceptional reliability.

The scale of the lighting design alone included more than 2,000 fixtures, all centrally managed through custom Crestron solutions. These systems unify control of lighting, AV, HVAC, shading, and user interfaces across the property’s residential and clubhouse areas. The result is a large, immersive multi-dwelling environment that blends the complexity of commercial automation with the personalized comfort expected in a premium residential setting.

Specialty spaces within The Camellias also benefit from this high level of integration. The cinema-performance hall transitions easily between film screenings and live events, powered by the same robust control framework. High-energy areas like the karaoke lounge and bowling alley are enhanced with curated playlists and dynamic lighting moods, while the spa is programmed with specific music to maintain a tranquil, restorative environment.
