Shure is using IBC 2026 to introduce WAVETOOL, audio listening software designed to give production teams a more flexible way to monitor audio during live shows and productions. In an interview with AVNation’s Tim Albright, Timo Liski explained how WAVETOOL can monitor up to 192 audio channels while also helping teams troubleshoot problems before they affect a production.
WAVETOOL is positioned as a “showtime software” tool for professionals who need to listen to audio channels during a production. Users can monitor wireless or wired channels and go back up to 30 minutes in the audio history to investigate issues.
The software is not limited to the main mixing position. Liski explained that microphone coordinators and other production staff can use WAVETOOL while moving around a venue. An iOS app connects to the WAVETOOL server, allowing users to listen to audio while also monitoring radio frequency (RF) levels, battery life, and system quality.
WAVETOOL can also fit into existing audio workflows. According to Liski, audio can be brought into the system through Dante when supported by digital Shure receivers. It can also accept audio from a mixing console through an MADI output. Multiple audio devices can be connected, giving production teams different options for integrating WAVETOOL into their existing systems.
