Don’t let the title deceive you, there is plenty of news coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. In fact, we’ve gathered Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Poly Darrius Jones, One-Woman AV Marketing Consultant Kelly Perkins and Princial Consultant for avitaas Brock McGinnis to help us suss and discuss all the important stories surrounding AV.

AVIXA’s latest Pro AV Business Index is showing a growth in employment since February. This predicts that employment and sales will recover by 2021. Our industry has had its share of recessions and golden ages, but this is still something fairly unprecedented as much as that word is overused. Can we really be prepared for anything considering the track record of 2020? Discussing how to maneuver the unknowns as a business during this pandemic.

CEO of Cisco Chuck Robbins has stated, “we are rebalancing our R&D investments to focus on new areas,”  as the company reports a 5% decrease in profits for this financial year. This could lead Cisco to adopt an AV as a service model for some of their products. As COVID-19 continues to directly impact our industry several companies like Cisco are looking for alternative ways of income. Is AV a service right for everyone? What’s the difficulty in adopting one for an established business?

d&b audiotechnik announced their new certified pre-owned program allowing customers to purchase remanufactured d&b solutions. These solutions are coming out from renting and staging solutions, which have taken the hardest hits during the pandemic. This discussion is relegated more to this facet of our industry.
