Be Excellent To Each Other

Even if there’s something as crazy as snow in April, we are going to be here to bring you the latest news coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Owner of Southtown AV Heather Sidorowicz, Senior Director of Communications for AVIXA Joé Lloyd and Midwest Sales Manager as well as part of SCN’s The 9 in 2020 Joe Dunbar.

We start with a article from Heather on our own website highlighting some of the experiences that women of the AV industry have had throughout the years. Some of these remarks are stunning, even moreso that they are so common even in current times. But rather than trying to start a crusade, we are looking to have a conversation about changing the structure of our industry to be welcoming to diversity. So simply put, how do we do that? Where do we start? Looking at what we can do to better this space that we all enjoy.

AVIXA has been making Pro AV Business Indexes during this pandemic to inform those within the industry of what’s going on around them. According to the March 2021 report, sales growth is at its highest level since 2019. And since we have someone from AVIXA to talk to, we get not only a look at this current report, but what brought on these indexes and reports in the first place. Is this a sign of good things to come? Looking at what might be going on as we start to move past this pandemic.
