AVWeek 641: Smash Boom Bang

[German] The, Speaker, The

We are actually on location talking to people in person about the biggest news and stories from the AV industry! We are joined by Gina Sansivero, George Tucker, and the Bald AV Guys (Rich Miller & George Chacko) in Poly/HP’s office in New York!

Audinate has announced a new brand identity for the company and their flagship solution Dante. Not to be confused with the Inferno author or Devil May Cry protagonist (though the new red may confuse) Audinate’s Dante is the premier AV over IP solution for audio. But now this push is touting video as well. Is Dante ready for video?

L-Acoustics hosted an event in Tampa to dispose of some counterfeit speakers in a spectacular and public fashion. This “destruction event” is exactly what it sounds like- 136 seized counterfeit speakers meeting the end of a sledgehammer. L-Acoustics said that removing these fake products in such a showy fashion helps sustain trust within the space. Are they right? What can we do as an industry in the event of counterfeit solutions?
