EDTech 103: Budgets & Big Screens

Tightening The Purse Strings

It’s a new year, but the format still stays the same! We are here to look at the news surrounding the higher education space and how it intersects with AV. Joining us this month is our tried and tested crew of Assistant Director of Multimedia Services for Drexel University Rob Rasberry, Director of AV Services for the University of Arkansas Ernie Bailey and Director of Client Services for Bates College Scott Tiner.

We start off by saying, ‘Tis the season. Not the holiday one, but a new semester of school, which means a whole round of budgeting and infrastructure for the higher education space. With a looming recession and inflation already factoring into the supply chain issues, we discuss how to keep up with these situations and still manage your classrooms.

On more lighter notes, we look at the recent trend of 21:9 displays. Known colloquially as ultrawide monitors, 21:9 has made a splash in gaming and residential and is starting to make its way to the corporate space. But what could it mean for higher education? We look at the potential uses for ultrawide in the classroom, and if that is enough to switch over.
