The Virtual Event Space

Try not to focus on Matt looking like a Roma tomato due to color balancing, instead focus on our deluge of stories coming out of the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us today is Chief Content Officer for CE Pro Jason Knott and founder of Pro Audio Georgia Steven Brawner as we look at the latest news for AV.

Savant has completed their acquisition of GE Lighting. This was previously reported on when it was just starting in early June, but now it’s all wrapped up. Even though GE is well known outside of the AV sphere, its influences within is not very strong. How will Savant leverage the GE name for their business moving forward? And how did this deal manage to fly under everyone’s nose without even a hint of being leaked beforehand?

While CEDIA Expo 2020 was cancelled in the physical space, it was announced they would be bringing it online just as InfoComm did last month. We finally know the days for CEDIA Expo Virtual, taking place from September 15th to the 17th. How will this compare to the real thing?

Crestron also has a virtual event of their own to announce. They stated that Crestron Next will take place on September 15th and 16th. These dates sound awfully familiar. Is it the work of intentional sabotage, or just the luck of the draw? Just to spoil, it’s the latter, but we discuss how this came to be and how it might stack up against CEDIA Expo in terms of content.
