For those of us not in the Roadside Picnic-esque Zone that is currently called Canada, summer is starting and baseball season is on its way. But instead of that, we’re content to stay inside and discuss the latest news coming out of the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us today is Senior Director of Training for Atlona Ken Eagle and Principal of Fregosa Design Rich Fregosa.

SnapAV has announced their intent to become a publicly owned company. Interestingly enough, Control4 also was set to go public before being bought by SnapAV and reverted to being privately owned, so this is an interesting move. If only we had the ability to ask them in the past last week when they made their move on Access Networks. Now all we can do is speculate, which we are fairly experienced at. What could this mean for SnapAV to make the move to be publicly traded? What brought this change on in the first place?

The Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance is coming to CEDIA Expo 2021 as a strategic programming parnter for the show in September. The IMCCA does have their hands on both the commercial and residential market, more so since the pandemic has placed many collaboration solutions in the home. That being said, and as nicely as possible… What are they doing here? Is there a conversation to have about getting corporate and enterprise grade equipment into the home office? Looking at what this partnership means for CEDIA and the industry as a whole.

Biamp’s Conference Room Solutions are now certified by Zoom for their Zoom Rooms. Just as we talking about in the previous story, the commercial side of collaboration is starting to merge into the residential space of home office design. These Biamp audio bundles are just another step to that goal. Should integrators be looking at bundles like this for their clients?
