Be A Friend To Get A Friend

It’s time to round up the latest news coming out of the residential side of the AV industry and then discuss it amongst some experts in the field. Experts like Origin Acoustics Vice President of Business Development Joe Whitaker and LiveWire CEO & Founder Henry Clifford.

CEDIA Expo 2022 has opened their registration. The show will be from September 29th to October 1st in Dallas, Texas. Last year’s CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis was one of the very first shows to return to the physical space, although it was hampered by the Delta strain back in 2021. With NAB 2022 and ISE 2022 showing that physical shows have the opportunity to come back, will this one be the return to form? Talking about the trade show space and what that means for integrators.

Matt may think it suspicious that every time Henry Clifford shows up, another one of his articles are on the docket. That is mostly a coincidence, but also a testament to how many good articles this man can publish. Either way, he writes about bridging the gap between “solid” and “killing it.” The crux of this article is about understanding the differences between what he calls A- and B-Players, and how to apply these sports metaphors into the residential space.

Finally, we talk about the misconceptions about mounting TVs over fireplaces in the home. Or at least, that’s what the article is about. We pivot the conversation into not just installing TVs over fireplaces, but the insistency that integrators have about projects. Turns out we may be the ‘Ackshually’ people of the industry? We discuss that fine line between doing what the customer wants and finding out what’s optimal for them.
