The Internet Is Everything
Any day that you’re getting news is good, right? We’ve got a whole lot of stories for the residential side of the AV industry to share with you. Joining us to discuss the news is Mark Feinberg from Home Theater Advisors and Patrick Norton of CTI.
First we want to congratulate Daryl Friedman on his continuing work at CEDIA as their CEO. His contract has been extended to 2027 and CEDIA has noted the increase in industry advocacy and membership engagement.
The CSA announces new IoT Device Security Specifications to accompany the FCC’s US Cyber Trust Mark. Before we get an angry letter from Bradford Benn, The Connectivity Standards Alliance wants their own standards on Internet of Things devices alongside the Federal Communications Commission’s own Cyber Trust Mark. Would collaboration like this be the first step for integrators to get involved with the new standards for keeping a network safe?
Next we discuss sound design and speaker location. Considering that sound travels, where it starts and how it bounces (or get absorbed) in a space is a big deal. We discuss the guidelines and tips made in the article while also asking a simple question: What’s the balance between beauty and function for speakers?
Specifi IO Inks is entering a data-licensing deal with Snap One. This will make the entire Snap One product portfolio available for integrators on their database. Custom integrators can specify solutions from Snap One into their quotes for projects. We look at the relationship between vendors, project tools and project proposals when it comes to making the sale.
