IHSE USA today announced it will showcase its latest KVM and extender solutions designed to deliver flexibility, security, and high performance in Booth SL5115 at the 2024 NAB Show in Las Vegas. Solutions include the high-performance KVM system based on the JPEG XS codec and created in partnership with Fraunhofer IIS, the kvm-tec Scalable Pro Line for 10G/multiview applications, the Draco SIRA CON for remote access to KVM systems, as well as the company’s KVM solutions for command and control and video wall applications.

“In today’s broadcast and production applications, remote access is key but demands features that ensure flexibility and security without any loss in quality and efficiency,” said Dan Holland, marketing manager at IHSE USA. “At NAB we will present the latest solutions in the IHSE portfolio that underpin these benefits and leverage our 40 years of expertise to ensure operators, engineers, and producers have the tools they need in today’s fast-paced environment.”

IHSE and Fraunhofer IIS Product Partnership
At NAB, IHSE will highlight its longtime relationship with Fraunhofer IIS’ design team. IHSE has again partnered with Fraunhofer IIS to develop a next-generation KVM system based on their high-performance JPEG XS codec. JPEG XS allows transferring high-resolution and high-quality video data over standard Ethernet or other wired connections with limited computing resources. Fraunhofer goes a step further by providing functionality for encapsulating code streams into file formats and transport streams. These formats are often essential in broadcasting workflows and equipment to fully leverage the low latency and high quality of JPEG XS.

By using Fraunhofer’s JPEG XS SDK and IHSE’s JPEG XS IP core for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), innovative and ultralow-latency broadcast, in-house, and gaming video routes can be realized with predictive and precise rate control. With this partnership, the library will be integrated into IHSE’s Draco Con App, which will introduce a new dimension of flexibility to KVM systems. The software-based KVM solution enables users to access an IHSE KVM network via IP protocol from a standard, network-connected PC.

kvm-tec Series Extenders for KVMoIP With 4K and Multiviewer Capabilities
On display will be kvm-tec’s Scalable Pro Line, supporting networked 4K multiviewer capabilities over a 10G network switch. Unique features include the ability to control and manage up to 16 computer sources on a single display via a single keyboard and mouse. By simply moving the mouse inside the gridded cell and clicking, the operator has full control of the source. In addition, up to four Scalable receivers can be network-bonded to allow up to 64 sources across the four displays.

Draco SIRA CON (Series 488) for Remote Access to KVM Systems
At NAB, IHSE will also highlight the Draco SIRA CON, which provides remote, real-time access to a Draco tera KVM matrix via typical network connections. Remote users access the matrix using an HTML 5.0 browser, client software, or SIRA User Station. The fully flexible, fully secure IP module adds more flexibility to the Draco tera matrix series without sacrificing the philosophy of securely isolating the core matrix and signal management from TCP/IP. Encrypted signal transmission via IP ensures protection of intellectual property while still offering the most flexible access to matrix-connected target devices from remote locations via private or public networks. HTML 5-based browser access offers the highest flexibility, even from mobile devices, for remote administration, while Windows- or Linux-based client software adds more performance and features along with a high level of flexibility when used on laptops or desktop computers. The two-slot Draco SIRA CON is compatible with the Draco vario extender series fitting in the Draco vario chassis. The SIRA CON also offers HDMI and USB interfaces for local access at the rack level.

KVM for Command and Control and Video Wall Applications
At the booth, visitors will see a variety of KVM solutions for control room applications. One of the benefits of an IHSE KVM system is that it brings together multiple disciplines, sectors, or actors to centralize monitoring, control, and distribution of critical information in a secure, fast-access approach. For large video wall applications, IHSE offers the Draco MV42 four-port multiview display processor that combines 4K60 multi-image video processing with remote keyboard/mouse control. It is offered in HDMI or DisplayPort supporting either single-head or dual-head sources. Ideal for conference rooms, control rooms, or classrooms, the versatile MV42 represents the next generation of multiview technology. It can be used as a stand-alone multiviewer or easily integrated into a Draco KVM switching system.

With the new kvm-tec Scalable Multiview Commander, up to 16 sources in full HD or 4K can be combined and displayed on a single 4K monitor and controlled via one mouse and keyboard. Compatible with standard 10G network switches and capable of supporting up to 2,000 endpoints, users can select any 16 sources and manage them directly via OSD menu shortcuts or directly through kvm-tec’s switching manager software.

  • Atlona Applauds Appointment of Christina Cruzeiro as the AVIXA Women’s Council Co-Chair

Atlona Applauds Appointment of Christina Cruzeiro as the AVIXA Women’s Council Co-Chair

Atlona, a Panduit company, is a manufacturer of AV distribution, AV over IP, collaboration, and control solutions, focusing on improving technology for idea sharing through innovative products used in commercial and educational applications.

Christina Cruzeiro, Canadian Regional Sales Manager at Atlona has been appointed as co-chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council alongside Tammy Fuqua of QSC. The council aims to empower women in the AV industry by establishing core goals, expanding networking opportunities, and supporting local groups globally.

Christina’s extensive experience in the AV industry, including her previous role as co-leader of the Toronto AVIXA Women’s Council, her passion for supporting women, and her collaborative nature, makes her an ideal choice for co-chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council. This appointment reflects Atlona’s commitment to diversity and empowerment within the industry, and it aligns with efforts to increase the representation of women and support their professional growth worldwide.

Atlona, a Panduit company, proudly congratulates Canadian Regional Sales Manager Christina Cruzeiro on her recent executive appointment to the AVIXA Women’s Council. As co-chair, Christina will lead the council alongside Tammy Fuqua of QSC to establish core goals and expand networking opportunities for the organization and its members.

The AVIXA Women’s Council represents a global community of AVIXA members and other professionals who support and empower women in the AV industry, with more than 1000 members worldwide. Christina was previously co-leader of the Toronto AVIXA Women’s Council, a position she held for five years. That experience, along with her love and knowledge of the AV industry through her work with Atlona and other organizations, positioned her as an ideal choice for co-chair.

While Christina and her colleague are responsible for North America, they have set their sights on making a much broader impact. “We are developing a global task force that will bring our values and mission to local groups in Europe, Asia and potentially other regions,” said Cruzeiro. “There are many new women coming into the industry, but we also lost numbers during Covid. About 14 percent of the industry was female prior to Covid, and we are now 11 percent in North America. We have some work to do, but we have a big vision for building those numbers and retaining more women in this industry over the long haul. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to make a difference.”

Christina and Tammy have specific events in the coming months to help build those numbers. The council will partner with similar organizations for International Women’s Day next month to bring stronger recognition to the women that make a difference in the AV industry. They are also planning this year’s AVIXA Women’s Council breakfast at InfoComm, which typically attracts more than 300 attendees. And in addition to actively recruiting new members, they are working hard to prepare incoming leaders for their increased responsibilities in promoting the council.

That includes bringing in sponsors to support local events. “We are here to support the local council leaders, who know they have direct lines to Tammy and for support,” she added.

“Christina has a true passion for supporting women in the AV industry,” said Jamey Swigert, Executive Director, Atlona. “Upon creating an Empowering Women’s Success employee resource group at Atlona, Christina was the obvious choice to lead the initiative and she has taken it far beyond my initial vision. This passion, combined with her highly collaborative nature, make her the perfect person to co-chair this important AVIXA council. Everyone at Atlona is proud of her work in our industry and congratulates her on this well-deserved appointment.”

  • AtlasIED and National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Education Foundation Create Ivey’s Everyday Heroes School Grant Program

AtlasIED and National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Education Foundation Create Ivey’s Everyday Heroes School Grant Program

AtlasIED is a manufacturer of high-quality commercial audio and communication technology solutions, dedicated to protecting, informing, and entertaining customers by developing solutions to solve complex audio and communication challenges.

AtlasIED and the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Education Foundation have collaborated to establish a joint grant program called Ivey’s Everyday Heroes. The program aims to provide financial support to individuals within schools across the United States who have demonstrated selfless acts to ensure the safety of others during emergency situations.

The purpose of Ivey’s Everyday Heroes is to recognize and support students, faculty, and educators who have taken proactive measures to enhance school safety. The program encourages the empowerment of individuals within school communities to speak up and report potential risks, fostering a culture of awareness and communication. Through this initiative, AtlasIED and NSCA Education Foundation aim to contribute to the ongoing efforts to reduce incidents of school violence and create safer learning environments for students.

AtlasIED and National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Education Foundation have created a joint grant program called Ivey’s Everyday Heroes. The program’s mission is to provide financial support to individuals in schools throughout the United States who have selflessly acted in ways to keep others safe during emergency situations.

Students and faculty have been empowered to be part of the safety team through speaking up and reporting potential risks. Through Ivey’s Everyday Heroes, this grant encourages more voices, more awareness, and more communication amongst the school community. Everyday heroes can step up to deter, delay, detect, and be a leader in planning, practicing, and preparing our schools against senseless acts of violence.

Johnathan Ivey, president of AtlasIED, has instilled in his company values the importance of creating solutions that enhance school safety. “Children should not feel fear or threatened when at school. Schools are supposed to be a safe place. But, over the past decades, school violence has increased and it’s unacceptable. The technology that we developed, first under my father’s guidance and now under mine is just a small contribution to help reduce active lethal threats in schools. Ivey’s Everyday Heroes, developed in memory of my father, Loyd Ivey, helps recognize students, staff, and educators who have exhibited heroic and selfless acts to keep others safe.”

Chuck Wilson, CEO of NSCA and Board Chairman at PASS K12, helped Ivey develop the Ivey’s Everyday Heroes program. “As one of the founders of the PASS K12 program, school and student safety has always been part of my personal mission. Having been in the technology field for decades, I know that our industry has influence and is effective in protecting individuals through the products and solutions it develops. It was a natural fit for me then to take it a step further with PASS K12, to help define how the technology can be used to enhance safety and security. PASS K12 created the guidelines using an ‘all hazards’ approach to address everyday concerns,” Wilson adds. “Then when John approached me to help develop the  Everyday Heroes program, I knew it was the next step for us to give back in this way.”

It’s important to note that every day, PASS K12 guidelines and checklists have made an impact on safety and awareness at schools; so much so that states have started including PASS K12 guidelines in their school safety legislation. Ivey’s Everyday Heroes will be administered through the PASS K12 organization and candidates will be identified through an application process. The application process and review board are under development, with additional details scheduled to be released soon. AtlasIED and the Ivey family’s first donation will allow the initiation of the program and for the first grants to be distributed.
