ISE 2019 Day One Digest

Observations from first day from the show floor

As the biggest trade show of the year kicks off it was a pretty remarkable start. Mike Blackman, executive director of ISE, announced the opening at 10 am local time and the crowds rushed in. I was in the middle of Hall 2 and trying to go upstream was a challenge.

AVNation’s first day had us bouncing between the two sides of the RAI; from Atlas-IED to Control4 and back again. You can see all our videos as they post here. I started out my day with Christie Digital and their re-imagined Christie MicroTiles. This new generation of the ground-breaking technology is markedly different. Yes, they still come in square blocks, but those blocks are made up of three seperate LED panels. This allows you to create video walls that are bendable and wavy. This feature gives creative art directors and experience designers a new tool in eye-popping digital signage.

Matt Scott sat down with Charlie Kindel from Control4 to talk about their newest acquisition, NEEO. For those not familiar, NEEO is a Kickstarter success story, creating a cult-following for their handheld remote controls. Control4 sees this as an opportunity to add to their existing interfaces and provides their dealers another option to give to residential clients.

John Ivey from Atlas-IED promoted demo units of his SHS speaker when we previewed ISE 2019. Now that we are here at the show, Ivey is providing commercial dealers the chance to get a Z-Series sound masking solution. Watch the video here to find out how to get yours.

We wrapped up the day with some friends and colleagues from our stand inside HDBaseT’s location in Hall 5. Vitec, QSC’s Mike Brandes, and OpenEye Global head cheese, Bryan Meszaros, joined us to give us their observations from the first day.

If you’re here in Amsterdam, make sure to stop by the AVNation Tweetup in HDBaseT’s stand, Hall 5 S-110 from 4 – 6 pm today. Free food and drinks and great connections.

As we head out for day 2, we look forward to connecting with even more of you.
