Established in Oita in 2000, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is a diverse campus with nearly 6,000 students. With English and Japanese as its official languages and half of its students and faculty members hailing from various countries, APU sought an advanced AV solution for its new College of Sustainability and Tourism building. The goal was to facilitate flexible communication in hybrid and HyFlex classrooms, enhancing the overall educational experience.
The College of Sustainability and Tourism is dedicated to nurturing talents capable of addressing global sustainable development and tourism challenges. However, the existing point-to-point AV system posed difficulties for effective group discussions between onsite and remote students. APU needed an AV system that seamlessly integrated video, audio, and control, ensuring minimal latency and noise. Additionally, real-time monitoring of group discussions and system status was essential for prompt technical support.
To address these challenges, IDK Corporation’s IP-Ninjar P-Series Transceiver model was deployed in classroom J101 within the Green Commons building. This solution offered simplified video and audio switching, along with unified SDVoE and Dante communication, accommodating the diverse teaching styles of faculty members. By leveraging an AVoIP solution, APU achieved active communication and discussion among onsite and remote students, while a multiview function enabled teachers to monitor group discussions effectively. Moreover, the deployment of Transceiver and Dante Audio Bridge products resulted in streamlined cabling and reduced energy consumption.
With the integrated SDVoE and Dante system, APU now enjoys simple routing and control capabilities for end-users, complemented by network and WebGUI-based monitoring for system administrators. This consolidated yet versatile solution has significantly enhanced communication and collaboration within the College of Sustainability and Tourism, fostering an enriched learning environment for students and faculty alike.
