Sony Highlights Energy Savings and Sustainability Efforts for Pro BRAVIA Displays at InfoComm 2026

At InfoComm 2026, Sony used its booth to demonstrate a growing focus on sustainability alongside display performance. Speaking with AVNation’s Tim Albright, Joe Drury discussed how the latest Pro BRAVIA displays deliver significant energy savings while maintaining the picture quality that customers expect from Sony.

One of the featured demonstrations compared previous-generation Pro BRAVIA displays with current models. According to Drury, Sony has achieved energy savings of up to 30% while preserving key image quality metrics such as brightness, color accuracy, and contrast.

For Sony, the effort goes beyond reducing power consumption. Drury explained that sustainability initiatives are increasingly important to customers evaluating technology investments. Lower energy use can reduce operating costs while also helping organizations meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives through lower carbon emissions.

The company believes these benefits become even more meaningful in large-scale deployments where dozens or hundreds of displays may be installed across a campus, corporate environment, or public venue. Maintaining the same visual performance while reducing energy consumption can have a measurable impact on long-term operating expenses.

To help customers better understand those savings, Sony is developing a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculator. Drury said the tool will estimate energy savings and carbon emission reductions based on factors such as display usage and geographic location. While the calculator was not yet available during the interview, Sony expects it to provide customers with a clearer picture of the long-term financial and environmental benefits of their display investments.

The conversation also touched on Sony’s broader approach to display innovation. Drury referenced the company’s Deep Black Non-Glare technology, noting how advancements in reducing reflections have helped establish new expectations for display performance in professional AV environments.

As organizations continue to balance performance, sustainability, and operating costs, Sony’s focus on energy-efficient display technology reflects a growing trend across the AV industry. For integrators, consultants, and technology managers, the ability to quantify both cost savings and environmental impact may become an increasingly important part of future display decisions.
