No Matter Where You Go, Everything Is Connected

Some of us are in the thick of InfoComm 2024 in Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean that the news doesn’t stop. If anything, there’s just more to go around. To look at the biggest stories from the residential space we are joined by Katye McGregor-Bennett from KMB Communications and Alex Capecelatro from Josh.ai.

Before we start proper, Alex talks about the latest CEDIA board meeting and the change in direction for the organization moving forward.

Botnets are starting to target smart TVs, according to a report from cybersecurity firm WatchGuard Technologies. The short version is that hackers gain a backdoor through fake applications to infect them. What can we do as an industry, from both the technical and person-facing side, against these potential threats?

Henry Clifford writes for Residential Systems about getting caught flat-footed. As usual, this is more of a metaphor than actually having fallen arches. This looks at unexpected circumstances within your business. How can integrators plan for something that can’t be predicted?

Finally we look at sustainable building strategies involving shading solutions. Sustainability can be seen as a buzzword, but more manufacturers are looking to provide some amount of sustainable practices to their processes through software or other means. How important is that to the customer, though? What integrators can do for sustainable AV solutions.
