  • Newcomer Modern Atomics Hits a Grand Slam at CEDIA Expo 2024

Newcomer Modern Atomics Hits a Grand Slam at CEDIA Expo 2024

Modern Atomics, a Singapore-based company, aims to provide innovative technology for CEDIA and ProAV channels, reducing costs, carbon footprint, and customer experience. With patents in Ai-based power, control, and distributed a/v products.

Modern Atomics debuted at CEDIA Expo 2024, introducing two innovative products: the Reaktor DC22 power distribution unit (PDU) and the Collider 24-Port POE switch. Both received multiple industry awards, with Reaktor designed for motorized shades, capable of powering up to 22 shades while saving significant energy, and Collider offering a groundbreaking PoE switch with self-generating power. These products are seen as game-changers in the motorized shade industry.

The launch highlights Modern Atomics’ technical innovation, led by experienced leaders who have worked with major AV companies. Their products simplify installation, save energy, and improve integrator efficiency, earning them praise from industry experts and recognition through prestigious awards.

Led by co-founders Paul Bryson (CTO), Tim Marshall (CFO), and Michael Braithwaite (Chairperson), Modern Atomics lived up to the hype of the company’s grand launch, earning multiple awards and praise by industry leaders at CEDIA Expo 2024. Over the years these three gentlemen developed innovative technologies for NetStreams, and held key posts at AMX, ClearOne, Crestron and Screen Innovations. Earlier this year Braithwaite was recognized by Commercial Integrator Magazine as a Living Legend (#45). And this all came together at CEDIA Expo 2024.

Modern Atomics’ Reaktor DC22 power distribution unit (PDU) nabbed a CEDIA 2024 Best New Hardware Product and both Residential Systems and TWICE Magazine Best of Show awards.

Reaktor is the first PDU designed solely for motorized shades, powering up to 22 where others max at 8. Leveraging patent-pending technology developed by the company, Reaktor eliminates up to 99.75% of all the quiescent current*, saving up to 412 Kilowatt-hours yearly, and its built-in Ammeter shows how much current is being saved in real-time. Reaktor is compatible with low-voltage DC and high-voltage AC motors and works with popular shade and control brands. Requiring no conduit or electrician, and wall or rack-mountable, Reaktor saves installation space and cuts install time and costs by 50%. Reaktor began shipping this month. MSRP is set at $1,499. Praise by Industry Experts

At Expo, Modern Atomics also introduced its Collider 24-Port POE switch for shades. This earned a rAVe Publications Best New Home Automation Hardware Solution award. “I did find a product … I truly would call it a game-changer. A company called Modern Atomics debuted a network switch with 24 ports – each capable of generating 90 watts of power, simultaneously – but the switch has NO POWER SUPPLY. That’s right, it generates its own power, internally. All you need to do is send ANY PoE signal to any port (Passive-PoE/Solar) and it will re-generate its own power and even hold the energy for up to 3 weeks. Yep, this is all true – and a game-changer.” – Gary Kayye, Co-Founder & Director, The rAVe Agency

(Reaktor and Collider) “My buddy Michael Braithwaite is in the business of changing the world. In less than a year he come up with a new arsenal of products that will help integrators do magical things in the

roller shade business. I am so proud to see the success of the entire team… These awards just illustrate what they stand for! The next chapter will be even more beautiful.”

    – Ryan Gustafson, Founder – Screen Innovations, Origin Acoustics, Shade Revolutions

(Reaktor and Collider) “Definitely deserve the recognition. When I first saw the shade specific PoE power device I actually sat up in my chair… These kinds of products make a huge difference! I am thrilled to see the next edition of genius they create.” – Steven Brawner, Owner – ProAudio Carolinas and ProAudio Georgia, LLC

(Reaktor and Collider) “Modern Atomics’ command of the shades category and technical prowess all come together in taking installs to the next level. Just as we have done on the control and user-experience side of the window coverings category, Reaktor is poised to do with power delivery. And this kind of technical innovation is exactly what the category needed.”

    – Zohar Shinar, CEO of Bond Control Platform

(Reaktor) “With Reaktor, our dealers can get in and out of motorized shade projects faster and without the potential complexities or aggravation associated with how this was done in the past.” – Chris Gilray, President of independent manufacturer sales rep firm Phoenix Marketing

(Reaktor and Collider) “It is not often we get to witness the advent of a new technology that changes everything about an entire industry segment. Modern Atomics’ Reaktor and Collider solutions will literally change the installation, profitability, and energy performance of the motorized shade category.” – Richard Frank, Modern Atomics board member and Account Director at the tech company’s PR-agency-of-record, Muto Communications.

Just Add Power, a leader in AV-over-IP distribution, is excited to announce that at the CEDIA Expo 2024 in Denver, the company’s 2G+4+ Tiling Transmitter was inducted into the CEDIA Product Hall of Fame, while its MC-QX MaxColor 4K60 Tiling and Warping Transmitter won the CE Pro BEST award for AV-over-IP and the Residential Systems Best of Show award. The 2G+4+ Tiling Transmitter is the third product from Just Add Power to be inducted into the CEDIA Product Hall of Fame, joining the Just Add Power 2G Platform inducted in 2019 and the 3G Ultra 718AVP Transmitter inducted in 2023. Since its debut in 2021, the MaxColor Series has taken home 11 industry awards in total.

“These awards are a testament to the dedication and innovation of our team, who are continually pushing the boundaries of video experiences for our clients,” said Ed Qualls, CEO of Just Add Power. “Customer feedback drives our ongoing product development. As we advance video over IP with the MaxColor Series, we remain committed to supporting legacy systems, giving integrators the flexibility to maximize the return on their entertainment investments. The induction of our 2G+4+ Tiler into the CEDIA Hall of Fame underscores our commitment to providing versatility not only in displays and sources but also in the advanced capabilities clients demand. We are grateful to the judges for their recognition and support.”

Selected by a panel of judges comprising home technology professionals, CEDIA Product Hall of Fame inductees have transformed the CEDIA industry with the value they provide to integrators and end users. Launched in 2015, Just Add Power’s 2G+4+ Tiling Transmitter introduced fast, easy, and scalable video tiling to its HDMI-over-IP video distribution systems. The tiler shows four sources on one screen simultaneously, with several video display options: quad screen, PIP, primary picture on top, and more with simple installation and unlimited scalability.

The Just Add Power MC-QX MaxColor 4K60 Tiling and Warping Transmitter combines the company’s MaxColor technology, 4K network video tiler, and Warp Engine technology. It allows 4K60 source devices to be displayed on a single screen instantly, along with source rotation capabilities. Users can simultaneously watch up to four 4K60 video sources in multiple formats, including single-screen, video wall, or tiled video. With the MC-QX warping capability, installers can rotate any source image in a Just Add Power matrix — cable boxes, media players, game systems, cameras, and more — in 0.1-degree increments in real time with incredibly low latency. The rotated image can then be sent to an unlimited number of receivers in the network, allowing for the creation of massive artistic video walls using a single MC-QX.

Since being introduced, the MaxColor family of products has received a host of industry accolades. In 2021, the MaxColor Series 1 earned Residential Systems Best of Show at CEDIA. In 2022, it earned Commercial Integrator’s BEST Award at InfoComm and CE Pro’s BEST Award at CEDIA. In 2023, the MaxColor Series 2 took home the Sound & Video Contractor (SVC) Best of Show at ISE, AV Technology’s Best of Show at InfoComm, CE Pro’s BEST, and Residential Systems Best of Show awards at CEDIA. Earlier this year, the company added SVC’s Best of Show at ISE for the MC-QX and the SVC Best of Show at InfoComm for the MC-TX3 MaxColor 4K60 Series Transmitter.

The NPS enables integrators to receive fully configured, updated, labeled, and installation-ready networking equipment straight out of the box from Blackwire. Available for free upon purchase of eligible networking products, this service eliminates the need for time-consuming setup and troubleshooting on site, ensuring a seamless and cost-efficient installation process.

“We are honored to have received these two awards for a service that speaks to our dedication to integrators,” said Kevin Luther, owner of Blackwire Designs. “Having worked as integrators ourselves, the Blackwire team knows the struggles firsthand and creates tools and support designed to help tackle the challenges home technology professionals face on the job. With the NPS, integrators can deploy networking solutions with confidence and speed — saving time and money, all while ensuring a headache-free end-user experience.”

This process verifies that each piece of equipment is working and plug-and-play ready upon arrival, eliminating the hassle of the RMA process, ensuring a smooth installation, and saving countless hours in the field. As a result, integrators can reduce labor costs and minimize the need for highly experienced staff on site. The service is supported by CWNA-certified personnel and includes all Ruckus, Peplink, and NETGEAR certifications, guaranteeing top-notch quality and reliability.

The CE Pro BEST Awards were judged on innovation, functionality, competitive advantages and benefits to the installer by industry leaders, along with the editors of CE Pro. For the Residential Systems Best of Show Awards, a team of judges was employed to read through the entries and rate them on several criteria, including value, impact, and uniqueness to the market, from the view of the residential integrator.

Systems integrators can learn more by attending two educational courses presented by RoseWater at CEDIA Expo: How to Enter and Succeed in Energy Management and Whole-House UPSes and Power Quality. Both are detailed below.

RoseWater Energy Demonstrates the Importance of Proper Power Conditioning

One of the biggest surprises among consumers and systems integrators is that poor power quality, not outages, is the major culprit of most power-related issues affecting the enjoyment, efficiency, and comfort of homes today. An energy management product that ensures every electronic device receives clean, stable, reliable power free of voltage fluctuations, therefore, is the key to optimizing the performance and longevity of a home’s electronic equipment and enhancing the lifestyle of its occupants.

At CEDIA Expo 2024, Booth #3905, the energy management experts from RoseWater Energy will be on hand to discuss with visitors the growing importance of proper power conditioning and how RoseWater Energy’s award-winning energy management HUBs efficiently stabilize incoming power from the electrical grid and electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by devices inside and outside the home. As a large-scale UPS, a RoseWater Energy HUB stabilizes erratic electrical current so that all devices in a home receive the safe, appropriate voltage. This helps devices perform optimally and last longer, which in turn reduces service calls and improves customer satisfaction.

RoseWater Energy Presents Two Educational Courses at CEDIA Expo 2024

Antiquated and stressed power grids coupled with the rapid adoption of smart home devices and systems have unleashed the perfect storm, and systems integrators are in the captain’s seat. To help systems integrators understand the current state of the power, how it is impacting the performance of homes, and how they can address the situation with comprehensive power management solutions, RoseWater Energy CEO Joe Piccirilli, will present two informative courses at CEDIA Expo 2024.

Attendees will learn how to become a successful and profitable provider of custom energy management solutions in “How to Enter and Succeed in Energy Management,” held 9:30-10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 5. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain by embracing this new business opportunity.

Systems integrators attending the second session, “Whole-House UPSs and Power Quality” on Friday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to noon, will learn how a whole-house UPS and power conditioner can work together to safeguard and support the performance of a home’s myriad smart systems. Piccirilli will show how it takes a multi-tiered approach to address the countless power problems plaguing homes today.

Both sessions will be presented in Room Mile High 3B.

    –John Sciacca, Residential Systems

… From the second the green-band trailer popped on screen, it was clear how vibrant, sharp, and bright the image was. I’d say it looked like a giant, 18-foot-wide OLED, but at up to 1500 nits, it was much brighter and, obviously, way more engaging. And the Kaleidescape cover art screen — something we’re all pretty familiar with at this point — has never looked better, with colors that just leapt off the giant screen. Quantum Media’s panels have been designed for the high-end residential market from the ground up, and part of its secret sauce is its full calibration services, which include “Pixel Alignment Calibration,” along with full on-site chroma alignment, grayscale and color space calibration for REC709, DCI-P3, and REC2020, and full system optimization of every AV source, ensuring each install has optimal performance. If I could have just one thing from the show…

    –Todd Anderson, AV Nirvana

… The XDR3 is, hands down, the best big-screen video image I’ve ever seen… and it’s not a stretch that other show attendees felt the same way. Boasting rich blacks, impeccable brightness, and mind-blowing details, Quantum’s latest offering was completely devoid of tile lines while delivering an image that looked better than reality.

Dealers, consultants and designers interested in providing their customers with a state-of-the-art LED video wall purpose-built for residential environments can contact Quantum at info@quantummediasystems.com to schedule an appointment. Quantum will host several showings throughout each day of the CEDIA Expo.

CEDIA Expo attendees can also visit Quantum’s Booth #4121, where a 10-foot wide 1.2mm XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall will be featured. Additionally, based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback from last year’s attendees, Quantum is returning to the Kaleidescape Booth #2543 with an even more spectacular 18-foot-wide Cinemascope-format video wall.

Members of the media can attend a press-only demonstration on Friday, September 6, 8-9 a.m. in Room #207. Quantum executives will be on hand to explain the Video Wall features, technology and answer questions.

Where to See Quantum Media Systems at CEDIA Expo 2024

Digital Projection, A Brand of Delta, Offers a Sneak Peak of Groundbreaking 1-Chip RGB Laser Projector at CEDIA Expo 2024

Digital Projection, founded in 1989, is a pioneer in Digital Light Processing technology for projection systems. It introduced the world’s first 3-chip DLP projector in 1997 and has received numerous awards, including two Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development.

Digital Projection introduces the E-Vision 10000i RGB projector at CEDIA Expo 2024, featuring Texas Instruments’ 0.8″ HEP DMD chip for high-performance RGB laser technology. It offers 4K+ resolution, 10,000 lumens, HDR, REC 2020 color space, and 3,000:1 contrast ratio.

The E-Vision 10000i RGB is a revolutionary custom integration tool that combines high-end RGB laser performance with the compactness of a laser phosphor projector, providing more accurate, lifelike images without the complexities of traditional three-laser systems. Digital Projection will showcase this innovation at CEDIA Expo.

At CEDIA Expo 2024, Digital Projection, a brand of Delta, is adding a new member to its single-chip laser projector lineup. The forthcoming E-Vision 10000i RGB projector represents a major technological milestone, incorporating a host of cutting-edge technologies enabled by Texas Instruments’ all-new 0.8” HEP (high-efficiency pixel) DMD (digital micromirror device) chip.

Combined with Digital Projection’s Nexus electronics platform, the HEP DMD delivers the performance of full RGB laser technology in the smaller footprint of a laser phosphor projector. These cutting-edge, single-chip features also contribute to easier setup than conventional projectors that use three individual red, green and blue lasers.

The single-chip 4K design eliminates the artifacts and color separation commonly associated with projectors utilizing a conventional RGB color wheel, while achieving 4K+ resolution, 10,000 lumens, HDR without brightness decay, REC 2020 color space, and a contrast ratio between 2,400:1 and 3000:1.

“Our goal at Digital Projection is to continually push the performance of our projectors to deliver the most accurate, lifelike images possible. This mission is reflected in the E-Vision 10000i RGB laser projector. By incorporating a completely new chip design, we’ve been able to introduce to the custom integration community a host of groundbreaking performance features,” says Digital Projection VP of operations Mike Akridge. “In a league of its own, the E-Vision 10000i RGB sets a new standard of excellence and we’re thrilled to be able to preview it to integrators at CEDIA Expo.”
