Theory Demos First Landscape Loudspeakers at CEDIA Expo 2024

Theory Professional offers high-utility, refined audio products for commercial spaces, addressing the premium audio niche with high-refined loudspeakers, subwoofers, and amplified loudspeaker controllers, providing class-leading performance in indoor and outdoor applications.

Theory Audio Design introduces the ic6-Bollard and iws12-Bollard landscape loudspeakers at CEDIA Expo 2024. The ic6-Bollard is a 360-degree outdoor adaptation of the ic6 in-ceiling speaker, while the iws12-Bollard provides deep bass.

Theory Audio Design is expanding its product offerings to cater to integrators and customers seeking high-performance audio solutions for outdoor environments. By introducing landscape loudspeakers that build on their existing acoustic platforms, they are providing flexible, easy-to-install options that offer consistent sound quality and bass performance for outdoor settings. This move aims to establish Theory Audio Design as a key player in the landscape audio market.

Premium audio brand, Theory Audio Design, is entering a new product category – landscape loudspeakers. Not yet released but being demonstrated at CEDOA Expo are Theory’s new high-performance landscape loudspeakers. The ic6-Bollard: 6.5” full-range landscape loudspeaker, and iws12-Bollard: 12” landscape subwoofer are on display and demo in booth 1943 and HPA Room 202.

    ic6-Bollard – 6.5” Full-Range Landscape Loudspeaker

Theory’s ic6, 6.5” in-ceiling loudspeaker is an industry favorite for high-performing in-ceiling speakers. Via careful processing and computer-optimized tuned ports, the ic6 delivers exceptional low-frequency bandwidth, punch and resolution, plus extremely wide dispersion. Up until now the ic6 could be paired with Theory’s optional all-weather grille or installed in open-ceiling and exposed environments when integrated into one of Theory’s ic6 pendant housings.

Building on Theory’s ic6 Acoustic CoreTM platform, the new ic6-Bollard is the ic6 loudspeaker installed into an elegant dark chocolate (and paintable) stainless steel Bollard housing. Once integrated, the ic6-Bollard becomes a full-range landscape loudspeaker providing 360-degrees of flawless, uniform, coverage. Pair it with the new iws12-Bollard subwoofer and you can reach sound reinforcement levels in your landscape – a rarity outdoors.

For large, distributed installs, you can use hundreds of ic6-Bollard loudspeakers. The ic6 includes a switch-selectable 70V/100v transformer that can be driven direct by Theory’s DLC-250.4d 4-channel loudspeaker controller. The DLC-250.4d can drive up to 16 Theory 16-ohm loudspeakers in Lo-Z mode, or up to 64 in Hi-Z mode – all from a half rack chassis.

    iws12-Bollard – 12” Landscape Subwoofer

Theory has also become known for deep, visceral bass from surprisingly compact enclosures. The Theory iws12-SPKR speaker assembly includes a 12-inch, 1,400 Watt, 4-inch voice coil long throw woofer that can be integrated into the popular Theory iws12-6 in-wall subwoofer and the highly flexible Theory iws12-9 architectural subwoofer. With the introduction of the iws12-Bollard, now that superior iws12-SPKR performance can be enjoyed outdoors. When mounted inside the new iws12-Bollard housing and installed outdoors you get truly astonishing high-energy low frequencies in your landscape.

“Theory is disrupting the status quo with a small stable of highly capable and flexible audio products, and the ic6 and iws12 are perfect examples of that,” said Paul Hales, CEO and Product Designer for Theory Audio Design. “With just two Theory loudspeakers, integrators have high-performing and easy to install solutions for in-ceiling, pendant, high-moisture, in-wall, surface-mount – and now – landscape installations. We welcome CEDIA Expo attendees to visit booth 1943 or HPA 202 for a demo. I can say with confidence, you’ve never heard landscape speakers like these.”

The Theory ic6-Bollard and iws12-Bollard will be available in late Q4 2024. To see and hear the new landscape loudspeakers, visit CEDIA Expo Booth: 1943 and High Performance Audio (HPA) room: 202.

Cutting-Edge Capabilities of Quantum Media Systems’ XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall Helps Residential Integrators Succeed in Luxury AV Market

Quantum Media Systems has added a host of revolutionary features and capabilities to its multi-award-winning XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall, giving residential integrators something extraordinary to offer their elite clientele. The XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall is the AV industry’s first 4K Digital Cinema-compliant video wall designed and engineered expressly for luxury homes. Featuring and supporting advanced technologies such as HDMI 2.1, 120Hz refresh rate, 100% of the P3 color space, up to 8K resolution, and multi-image processing, the XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall is a highly versatile large-scale LED display capable of producing exceptionally realistic, bright, and detailed images from any variety of sources. This includes first-run movies from the exclusive Bel Air Circuit, as well as content from other sources and AV components. The XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall alters the dimension of its viewing surface automatically to the most appropriate format based on the content selected, be it 2.39:1 Cinemascope, 2.0:1, 1.85:1, or 16:9 4K HD. Plus, its newly established 1500 nit luminance rating, beneficial for viewing HDR (High Dynamic Range) content, sets a new standard for residential applications.

Quantum Media Systems Reveals How DCI Puts its XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall at the Forefront of the Luxury AV Market

One of the most significant enhancements to Quantum Media Systems’ revolutionary XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall is its support of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) specification. DCI was developed initially as a performance standard for commercial cinemas; Quantum is among the first companies to extend DCI to the residential market. In addition to better imaging performance, DCI provides end-users access to first-run Hollywood films from the exclusive Bel-Air Circuit streaming service. This is a dramatic differentiator. Until now, residential integrators could only offer their high-end clientele Bel-Air Circuit content via certain high-end projectors and video walls intended for commercial applications. Now, for the first time, it’s available via a modern, stylish, high-performance residential video wall. Together, DCI, Bel-Air Circuit and the XDR Pro Cinema Video Wall by Quantum Media Systems establishes a powerful precedence and a compelling imaging solution for integrators targeting the luxury home market.

Quantum Introduces New Branding for Commercial Cinema Initiatives

Quantum Media Systems fortifies these product enhancements with newly announced branding. Quantum Pro Cinema represents Quantum’s pro cinema acumen, developed over years of strategic alliances and collaboration with some of Hollywood’s most prolific cinematographers, producers, directors, and other cinematic professionals. “This new brand signifies our relationships in the filmmaking industry and our passion for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for large-scale imaging for residential applications,” says Quantum owner Ken Hoffman. “Immersing ourselves in the commercial cinema industry allows Quantum to stay one step ahead in its development of residential video wall technologies.

  • Somfy North America Debuts Powerful PoE Motor for Large Window Covering Installations

Somfy North America Debuts Powerful PoE Motor for Large Window Covering Installations

Somfy, for over 50 years, has been in motorization and automated solutions for window coverings and shading products, focusing on comfort, security, and sustainability.

Somfy introduces the Sonesse® 40 PoE motor range, a scalable solution for larger window coverings and shading applications, built on the Sonesse® 30 PoE motor, offering torque options and IEEE 802.3bt standard compatibility.

Somfy introduces the Sonesse® 40 PoE motor range for motorized window coverings, offering flexibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, reducing cabling needs, eliminating licensed electricians, and providing direct integration with third-party control systems.

Somfy, the global leader for interior window coverings and exterior solar protection, announced today the debut of the Sonesse® 40 PoE motor range. One year after launching the smallest PoE motor on the market — the Sonesse® 30 PoE motor — Somfy now complements its lineup with a customizable solution for larger-sized applications.

The new Sonesse 40 PoE motor offers systems integrators the installation flexibility of Power over Ethernet technology. By delivering power and data signals to the motor on a single Cat-5e/Cat-6 Ethernet cable, PoE reduces the amount of time and cabling required, which results in a faster and less labor-intensive installation. Since no dedicated AC electrical wiring or electrical outlet is needed, systems integrators can handle the installation without a licensed electrician and without being constrained by the proximity of electrical outlets. Because PoE is inherently compatible with IP networked systems, Sonesse 40 PoE motor-driven shades and screens can be easily integrated into a complete smart home network. Additional PoE motor-driven products and devices can be added to the network, giving systems integrators a simple, complete, and economical ecosystem.

Sonesse 40 PoE motors provide a full range of options, available in three sizes–2, 4 and 6Nm–to operate even the largest of applications. The adoption of the new IEEE 802.3bt Standard enables PoE switches to deliver up to 90W, which is significantly more power than the original 15W IEEE 802.3af standard. As a result, a wider range of powered devices can be supported on the network, including 6Nm motors for shades.

Despite being one of the strongest and most robust motors on the market, the UL-listed Sonesse 40 PoE is remarkably quiet and compact, moving fabrics smoothly and capable of fitting narrow windows with smaller tube profiles, which helps preserve visual aesthetics and maintain unimpeded views.

Enhancing the Sonesse 40 PoE motor is the Somfy Synergy™ API, which allows for simple, direct integration with leading third-party control systems, like Control4, Crestron, Crestron Home, URC, ELAN, and RTI. This precludes the need for additional gateways and user interfaces to operate window shades, and with Somfy’s PoE Motor Configuration Software, systems integrators can easily configure multiple motor-driven products or devices over IP from a single interface.
