  • Vantage now shipping EasyTouch Glass keypad

EasyTouch Glass features a mirrored look with a smooth-touch tactile surface and is available with up to five programmable buttons

The Vantage EasyTouch Glass modular keypad station by Legrand’s Building Control Systems (BCS) division is now available. The latest keypad features a contemporary design and color options that can be matched with other Legrand products for a consistent look.

EasyTouch Glass offers a highly reflective, mirrored look with a smooth-touch tactile surface and is available with up to five programmable buttons for different scenes — such as “Welcome,” “Away,” or “Party” — allowing users to set the lighting in a space with one touch. With this release EasyTouch Glass becomes the pre-programmed default keypad station within Vantage’s Design Center software — for standard lighting scenes and pre-configured, human-centric Lighting for Life scenes. The keypad’s button matrix is also the same as wired or wireless wallbox dimmers.

The keypad can be completely personalized by homeowners, designers, and integrators by mixing or matching colors for trims, buttons, and faceplates, while an inner-surface ink layering process ensures consistent color definition and reflectivity. Buttons are laser-engraved in a TrueType font — now 15% larger, standard — with the letters illuminated by adjustable RGB backlighting in the user’s color of choice. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the backlighting based on the time of day, and users can easily determine which scenes are active based on the button’s color or intensity.

While other solutions separate load and scene functionality into different devices, EasyTouch Glass combines both into a single station, allowing installers to reduce the number of keypads on the walls for a cleaner look. The keypad is easily designed and programmed through Vantage’s Design Center software. Ideal for use as both a stand-alone keypad and in combination with Vantage’s Equinox touchscreens, as well as with wireless applications, the device is simple to install in 1- to 4-gang electrical boxes.

“Our EasyTouch Glass provides an elegant design to complement the aesthetics of the modern smart home,” said Mark Moody, product manager, Vantage. “In addition, its available color options are matched with other Legrand products including receptacles and nightlights, providing a consistent look above and below the chair rail. And with its programmable buttons and adjustable backlighting, EasyTouch Glass is a world apart from other keypads on the market when it comes to functionality.”

  • Genelec focuses on sustainability with RAW loudspeaker lineup

For a more environmentally friendly speaker, the RAW range requires no painting and less finishing material than standard painted models

Genelec is now offering customers the option of a special RAW aluminum color finish, available on a selection of the most popular models in its Studio, AV and Home Audio ranges.

All the models feature the timeless Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) design, developed by Genelec in close collaboration with leading industrial designer Harri Koskinen, and fashioned from recycled aluminum. The RAW versions require no painting and less finishing material than standard painted models – creating an even more environmentally friendly loudspeaker that allows the natural beauty of the enclosure’s raw aluminum to shine through, and gives each individual loudspeaker a unique look and feel.

The models available are all two-way designs, and include the 8020, 8030 and 8040 nearfield studio monitors, the 4020, 4030 and 4040 installation loudspeakers, the new 4420 and 4430 Smart IP loudspeakers and the G Two, G Three and G Four home audio models.

Genelec’s original use of aluminum enclosures dates back to 1996 with the launch of the 1029A nearfield model, with the distinctive curves of the revolutionary diecast MDE design finally achieving worldwide recognition when the 8000 series was unveiled in 2004. By eliminating edge diffractions, the MDE delivers incredibly flat frequency response, precise imaging and unparalleled acoustical performance. The slimline enclosure is elegantly cast and beautifully finished to produce an extreme rigid structure with large internal volume – thereby extending the frequency response while simultaneously reducing resonances and thus the quantity of internal damping material required.

Over the years the MDE design has made possible an extensive range of custom paint finishes, but with the announcement of the new RAW option, Genelec is confident that customers will be attracted to the idea of investing in an endlessly recyclable Genelec loudspeaker that is itself largely created from recycled beverage cans and automotive parts – but is now even kinder to the environment.

Genelec Managing Director Siamak Naghian comments, “We have been trialing the RAW finish for an extended period of time, gauging customer response while fine-tuning the production process. Although we were driven by the desire to offer a loudspeaker option with even greater sustainability credentials, it quickly became clear that customers across all market segments also loved the ‘industrial’ design aesthetic that RAW represents. We hope the audio community will agree that our RAW loudspeakers sound exceptional, are beautiful to look at – and are better for the planet too.”

  • Datapath’s WallControl 10 plug-in verified with Milestone XProtect

By adding the Wall Control 10 plug-in, XProtect users can drive a Datapath video wall controller without the need to use WallControl 10 separately

Datapath is a verified product partner for surveillance software specialists, Milestone Systems.

Following testing, the WallControl 10 plug-in for Milestone’s XProtect software is now officially verified to integrate with Milestone’s XProtect platform.

Milestone’s XProtect video management system is an established and popular open platform that brings together camera and back-end intelligence. It is widely recognised at a market leader due to its extendibility and adaptability that enables Milestone’s partners to design perfect future-proof solutions for any business video need.

By adding Datapath’s Wall Control 10 plug-in, XProtect users can drive a Datapath video wall controller without the need to use WallControl 10 separately. Switching applications is time consuming and distracts the operator from their immediate responsibilities. WallControl 10 is still operating on the video wall controller, but all the commands to direct content to the video wall is done using the XProtect user interface.

The WallControl 10 plugin for XProtect brings a wealth of benefits, allowing an administrator to define ‘zones’ on their video wall. A zone may comprise any number of screens or part of a screen. XProtect users can then select which zone or zones they wish to add content to and from. With Datapath’s WallControl 10 plug-in, XProtect becomes a fully functioning video monitoring platform, with the following additional features:

    Share View
This feature takes the camera feeds from within the operator “View” and displays them on the video wall within the selected zone.

    Track My View
Selecting Track my View will automatically send the cameras from each operator view to the video wall without the need for the operator to share each time. Tracking my view enables operators to get on with their work without having to remember to additionally add cameras to a video wall.

    Extract Cameras
If the user view contains camera carousels, where a number of cameras can be cycled in a loop, the Extract feature allows the cameras currently ‘on top’ to be sent to the video wall. This allows an operator to see a camera of particular interest on the wall, whilst the carousel continues on their local screen.

    Deploy and Save layout files
As is possible when using WallControl 10, XProtect users are able to deploy saved layout files onto the video wall. This allows for captured video, such as a TV signal or PC to be directly displayed onto the wall alongside the video cameras. Users are also given the opportunity to save layout files through XProtect for future recall.

    Camera Discovery
The WallControl 10 plug-in will recognise all cameras that are available within Milestone’s recording server and automatically populate WallControl 10 with the correct settings making the set-up process simple.

Customers interested in learning more about the integration, can join a webinar to see the features and a live product demo. You can find a list of Datapath’s upcoming webinars here: https://www.datapath.co.uk/webinars.

The result is a rock-solid backbone for today’s connected home, all packed in one convenient location.”

Teaming up with the rack and cable management experts at Middle Atlantic Products, a fellow Legrand brand, the AC1050’s mounting hole pattern design is inspired by the Middle Atlantic Lever Lock System for small AV devices, providing flexible mounting options for third-party components. The mounting plate is constructed from durable, Wi-Fi transparent ABS plastic and can be mounted vertically or horizontally (half-width) within On-Q’s plastic enclosures to fit any configuration. The unit has 1.5 inches of elevation to support mounting devices on both sides of the plate, freeing up space in the enclosure and accommodating protruding devices like antennas. The unit includes three feet of hook and loop VELCRO strapping to safely secure wired and wireless devices.

Providing support for Cat-6a cable connections, the AC106A6 network interface module terminates up to six data lines to connect high-speed devices like computers, smart TVs, gaming systems, and network streaming devices to the home network.
