New Source for Z-Wave Smart Home Chips

    Trident IoT joins Z-Wave Alliance

Trident IoT, a new company focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), has joined the Z-Wave Alliance. Trident IoT will provide Z-Wave chips and modules to alliance members, as well as product design and development services. The company is also now an official Z-Wave device certification laboratory.

Mitch Klein, Z-Wave Alliance Executive Director said, “Trident IoT further fosters the development of new features, enhancements, and custom applications on Z-Wave Technology by offering connected device manufacturers a new direct source for Z-Wave chips and modules, along with personalized product engineering support and U.S.-based Z-Wave certification.”

What it means to Smart Homes

The first part here is the resource for new smart home chips. Through COVID, chip shortages were an everyday excuse for the lack of equipment. With the addition of Trident IoT, the Z-Wave Alliance and its member companies have another source of chips.

Trident IoT is also bringing to the market a Z-Wave laboratory. In the smart home space, Z-Wave device certification can be a bottleneck for companies seeking certification. This new place for that to happen means that more products will come to market faster. The lab will be in New Jersey which makes it accessible to US manufacturers.

“By offering U.S.-based Z-Wave device certification, we can make it easier for North American manufacturers to communicate throughout the certification process, resolving issues that arise quickly and ultimately getting products to market faster,” Mariusz Malkowski, Chief Technology Officer, and Founder, Trident IoT said. “Our goal is to help Z-Wave device members continue to innovate, making it easier and more efficient for them to successfully implement new features, such as Z-Wave Long Range, which unlocks new use cases with incredible capabilities.”

Trident IoT commits to Z-Wave Alliance

Overall, Trident IoT’s joining is a good thing for the Z-Wave Alliance and the smart home industry as a whole. The company’s products and services will help to make Z-Wave an even more popular and powerful platform for smart home devices. Z-Wave continues to grow in adoption throughout the home technology market. Trident will help homeowners expand their devices.

The Z-Wave Alliance, a standards development organization for smart home technology, today announced the launch of Trident IoT, a new company that will provide Z-Wave silicon chips and modules, product design and development services, and Z-Wave device certification.

Trident IoT is led by a team of experienced engineers and executives with a deep understanding of Z-Wave technology. The company’s goal is to help Z-Wave device manufacturers bring new products to market more quickly and easily.

Trident IoT’s Z-Wave silicon chips and modules are designed to be easy to use and integrate into existing products. The company also offers a variety of design and development services to help manufacturers get their products to market faster.

  • A First Look Inside the MSG Sphere

A First Look Inside the MSG Sphere

A look at the world’s largest LED Screen

The MSG Sphere is one of the most secretive AV installations in recent memory. Inside the space, there are signs about “immediate termination” if you take a photo/video. Apparently, that doesn’t apply to filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

A post shared by Darren Aronofsky (@darrenaronofsky)

“My iphone can’t come close to capturing the definition on the screen,” Aronofsky posted on Instagram. “At times you forget where you are and you’re transported to the other side of our home.”

Aronofsky, who is known for blockbusters such as The Wrestler, Noah, Black Swan, and The Whale has been commissioned to create Postcards from Earth. Postcards has been shot on 18k cameras to take full advantage of the Sphere’s 18K screen.

Even though the outside, or exosphere, has been operational and wowing Vegas and beyond since July 4, 2023, this is the first real look at the inside. Unless you’ve had the chance to sneak a peek inside the space. What has been boasted as the “largest screen on the planet” certainly is showing off with Aronofsky’s project.

    MSG Sphere AV

The MSG Sphere is not only a video marvel but an audio one as well. L-Accoustics supplied the 170,000 speakers in the space. In addition, this is a 4D plus experience. Sight with the 18K display. Sound with the 170,000 speakers. Feel with rumble seats. Smell with olfactory sent insertion. And environmental with wind machines and the ability to adjust the temperature plus or minus 10 degrees in a matter of seconds.

InfoComm 2024 takes place in Las Vegas, the home of the MSG Sphere. Postcards from Earth is showing when there isn’t a residency in place. After the U2 experience at the Sphere ends in December, the group plans to announce the acts coming to the Sphere in 2024. As of this writing, Postcards will be what is available. See below for the ad on the exposphere for postcards.

  • Workers want hybrid, Biamp says

    Workers want hybrid, Biamp says

Biamp survey says most want hybrid work

In a recent survey conducted by Biamp intriguing insights have emerged regarding the ongoing debate surrounding the future of work. This data reveals a convergence of views between managers and workers, shedding light on the evolving dynamics of the modern workplace. While employees are gradually spending more time at the office, managers are increasingly recognizing the imperative need for flexibility, particularly for professionals on the move or stationed in satellite offices.

The survey, which garnered responses from 2,400 individuals globally, spanning both end users and decision-makers, underscores a unanimous sentiment. Both parties concur that fostering hybrid work scenarios offers the most effective path to cultivating productive work environments, catering to a broad spectrum of employees. The ability to adapt to a hybrid model is poised to be the linchpin in sustaining an equitable and effective work ecosystem.

    Balancing Hybrid Work Environments

In light of these findings, organizations face the critical task of harmonizing the needs of employees in the physical office and those working remotely, engendering meeting spaces that are not only hybrid but also equitable. Central to achieving this equilibrium is the integration of cutting-edge hybrid conferencing technology for group meetings.

    Creating Parity in Hybrid Meetings

To achieve parity in hybrid meetings, end users have pinpointed several key elements that contribute to a successful hybrid video conferencing experience:

    1. Instantaneous Launch: Above all, meetings should kick off seamlessly and without delay.
    2. Sound Supremacy: Remarkably, sound quality takes precedence over video, underscoring the importance of impeccable audio in video conferencing solutions.
    3. Video Excellence: Following sound quality, users expect top-tier video.
    4. User-Friendly Interface: The software and hardware should not only be easy to set up but also intuitive to operate during meetings.
    5. Inclusive Participation: Remote attendees should feel equally engaged as their in-office counterparts.

In response to these user preferences, organizations must continue investing in video conferencing technology that not only streamlines user experience but also delivers high-quality audio and video, regardless of attendees’ physical locations.

    Navigating the Shifting Landscape

The challenges presented by this evolving landscape are becoming increasingly pronounced, as per end-user survey responses. Over the past 18 months, three out of four end-user respondents reported that their employers have been advocating for more in-person office presence. Consequently, organizations must equip themselves with the requisite tools to facilitate effective meetings that involve both in-office and remote participants.

    Transforming the Office Space

Anecdotal insights from decision-maker respondents underscore a consensus regarding the necessity for reshaping the office environment to accommodate remote and traveling workers. One decision maker bluntly stated, “the office environment needs a makeover,” while another emphasized the need for “new communication methods” and the establishment of a “fresh working culture.” Another recommended organizations to provide a “collaborative and supportive work environment” that fosters creativity and teamwork.

Despite these concerns, the majority of both end users and decision-makers perceive the office as the primary space for conducting work. Nevertheless, it falls upon business leaders to innovate and adapt office spaces to reflect the evolving realities of the modern workforce, where work can happen anywhere.

Additionally, the survey identified two critical aspects for enhancing hybrid conferencing environments: the integration of AI into conferencing technology stacks and ensuring top-notch sound quality for all participants.

  • LEA Professional Dante-Enabled Connect Series Amplifiers Help Transform Cutting-Edge L.A. Recording Studio

LEA Professional Dante-Enabled Connect Series Amplifiers Help Transform Cutting-Edge L.A. Recording Studio

LEA Professional was founded in 2019 to provide dealers/integrators in the professional AV market with the highest-performing, best-connected amplifier technology, led by industry veterans.

Clear Lake Recording in North Hollywood, California has integrated with LEA Professional Connect Series 354D amplifier for best results.

The Connect Series 354D is a 4-channel amplifier with 350 watts per channel, part of the Dante Connect Series. It features direct Hi-Z or Lo-Z selectable by channel, and three ways to connect: Wi-Fi access point, studio Wi-Fi, or local area network via Cat5 or Cat6 cable.

Clear Lake Recording in North Hollywood, California, has been making great music for nearly 50 years with the likes of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Little Richard and The Talking Heads, as well as Melissa Ethridge, Adam Levine, and rap superstar Wiz Khalifa, to name just a few. To keep the music flowing, the owner of this legendary studio turned to LEA Professional to help completely transform Studio B, one of Clear Lake’s four world-class studios at the Burbank Boulevard location.

In the highly competitive music industry, staying on the cutting edge of technology and providing musicians with top-notch facilities and the tools they need to sell their music and climb the charts are keys to survival for any recording studio. Clear Lake takes that very seriously, continuously upgrading studios and adding new equipment. “We want musicians to want to come here,” says studio owner Eric Milos. “We’re always pushing the envelope with our look and capabilities to stay ahead of the game.”

Studio B was built in 1992 to accommodate the studio’s longer-term projects. In 2015 it was converted from a long-term lockout space to a fully featured overdub and 5.1 mix room. By 2016 Clear Lake began to drastically increase its backline so artists could record with top-of-the-line instruments and amplifiers.

A few years later, Milos needed to make an even more dramatic upgrade, constantly pushing the boundaries of his craft. With a desire to take Studio B to the next level, he sought out the expertise of Russ Belttary at RSPE Audio Solutions to transform the room from a 5.1 surround setup to a cutting-edge 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos system, complete with the newest range of high-resolution PMC speakers.

RSPE, long known for its expertise in integrating analog and digital audio with the film and music industry, was up for the challenge. “The stakes are incredibly high in this business for companies like Clear Lake Recording,” says Belttary. “Our mission is to give them the very best guidance, service, and products in creating a state-of-the-art recording studio.”

Using the elevated standards set forth by Dolby, RSPE designed a fully digital workflow with maximum flexibility and simplicity in mind. The team knew that to achieve the ultimate in sound quality it had to recommend the perfect amplifiers to seamlessly connect with the Avid MTRX, DADman software, and a Dolby Atmos hardware renderer. Enter LEA Professional Connect Series 354D — its integrated Dante connectivity eliminates unnecessary analog conversions for the purest signal and lowest noise floor possible.

RSPE used three LEA Connect Series 354D Amplifiers for the overhead and surround speakers in Studio B. The Connect Series 354D is a 4-channel amplifier with 350 watts per channel. As part of the Dante Connect Series — the world’s first Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled professional-grade amplifiers — the 354D is perfectly suited for Clear Lake’s Studio B. The 354D features direct Hi-Z (70V or 100V) or Lo-Z selectable by channel. With three ways to connect, Clear Lake can engage the built-in Wi-Fi access point, connect to the studio’s Wi-Fi, or connect to any local area network via Cat5 or Cat6 cable.

While the top-notch sound quality was of critical importance to Milos, he also wanted amplifiers that were reliable and easy to use. “The LEA amplifiers fit the bill perfectly and were able to be tucked away in the machine room, thanks to their renowned dependability,” says Belttary.

“The result of this meticulous attention-to-detail and cutting-edge technology is nothing short of astounding,” adds Milos. The sound quality and specifications meet the highest standards, earning Studio B the prestigious designation of being a PMC Near-Field Reference Room.

“Our goal was to have a reference quality mix room that any of my high-profile clients can come to and have a sonic experience that parallels big budget Hollywood studios,” adds Milos. “Thanks to LEA and RSPE, mission accomplished, not impossible.”

The next generation of music greats looking for their next big break could walk through the front door tomorrow at Clear Lake Recording in North Hollywood. When they get there, they’ll get to work with a true visionary in Eric Milos, who places his trust and reputation in RSPE and LEA Professional.
