  • Coastal Source® and Lutron® Redefine the Indoor-Outdoor Lighting Experience at CEDIA Expo 2026

Coastal Source® and Lutron® Redefine the Indoor-Outdoor Lighting Experience at CEDIA Expo 2026

Coastal Source and Lutron are bringing a more connected approach to residential lighting to CEDIA Expo 2026, showing how indoor lighting, shading, and outdoor illumination can work together as one experience. Their Destination Outdoors demonstration will highlight VIA™, a new intelligent outdoor lighting platform developed through Lutron’s Native by Design™ program, extending Lutron’s lighting ecosystem beyond the home.

The experience will showcase VIA alongside Coastal Source’s EVO and Niche fixtures, demonstrating how architectural, landscape, and accent lighting can create a seamless transition from indoor spaces to outdoor environments. The companies will also highlight Coastal Source’s broader outdoor lighting, power, cabling, and infrastructure solutions for AV and smart-home professionals.

Coastal Source and Lutron will unveil the next evolution of intelligent residential lighting at CEDIA Expo 2026, demonstrating how lighting, shading and outdoor illumination now work together as one seamless experience.

Building on the strategic partnership announced at last year’s Expo, Coastal Source and Lutron will showcase the industry’s first fully integrated intelligent indoor and outdoor lighting experience, powered by the new VIA™ intelligent outdoor lighting platform. Developed through Lutron’s Native by Design™ program, VIA is purpose-built to extend Lutron’s premium lighting experience beyond the home’s walls, enabling dealers to deliver a unified lighting solution across the entire property. Pre-orders for VIA begin August 18, with product shipments scheduled to begin early October.

Lutron’s Native by Design program brings together select manufacturers to develop products engineered from the ground up to integrate natively with the Lutron ecosystem. Native by Design solutions are designed to deliver a more seamless user experience while simplifying specification, installation and programming for dealers. VIA represents the exclusive intelligent outdoor lighting platform developed through the program, extending Lutron’s renowned indoor lighting capabilities into the landscape.

Destination Outdoors demonstrates how intelligent lighting should be designed as one continuous experience starting inside the home and extending into the landscape. At Destination Outdoors, guests enter a thoughtfully designed living room before progressing through an outdoor entertaining space and into a fully illuminated landscape, experiencing how lighting naturally guides the transition from indoors to outdoors.

“Destination Outdoors has always been about demonstrating outdoor technology in the environment it was designed for,” said Franco D’Ascanio, CEO of Coastal Source. “This year we’re taking that concept further by showing how indoor and outdoor lighting can be planned together to create a single, connected living experience. Exceptional outdoor lighting doesn’t begin in the landscape, it begins with designing the entire property as one connected living environment.”

Throughout the guided experience, visitors will watch the living environment transition naturally from daytime to evening as Lutron’s Ketra lighting and automated shading gradually reshape the interior atmosphere, before Coastal Source’s outdoor lighting brings the surrounding landscape to life. The carefully choreographed sequence demonstrates how thoughtful lighting design transforms the experience of the home as day turns to night.

The outdoor demonstration highlights VIA, the intelligent outdoor lighting platform developed jointly by Coastal Source and Lutron through the Native by Design program, alongside Coastal Source’s EVO and Niche fixture families. Together, they demonstrate how layered architectural, landscape and accent lighting create outdoor spaces that feel natural, comfortable and beautifully connected to the home.

Visitors will also experience Coastal Source’s broader outdoor technology ecosystem, including the 1000 Series Bollards, PowerSource®, Uni-Connect cabling technology and other outdoor infrastructure innovations, alongside the company’s mobile demonstration vehicle.

Destination Outdoors also marks the first public demonstration of the Coastal Source and Lutron ecosystem using commercially available VIA products, reinforcing how dealers can now deliver a truly unified lighting experience across the entire property. It also reinforces the value of designing indoor and outdoor lighting as part of a single lighting strategy rather than as separate systems.

“VIA is a great example of what’s possible through Lutron’s Native by Design program,” said Ed Blair, President and Vice-Chairman of the Board. “By developing VIA alongside Coastal Source, we’ve extended the Lutron lighting experience beyond the home with a purpose-built outdoor platform that integrates natively with our ecosystem. Together, Lutron and Coastal Source are enabling dealers to deliver one continuous lighting experience that flows naturally from inside the home into the landscape.”

Attendees can experience VIA and the expanded Destination Outdoors exhibit outside the main entrance to the Colorado Convention Center while also visiting Coastal Source’s indoor booth (#2117), where the company will showcase its latest lighting, audio and power innovations.

On Wednesday, September 2nd, Day 1 of the CEDIA Expo, Coastal Source will host its annual Destination Outdoors Happy Hour from 5:00 – 7:30 pm MT.

  • Dendo Systems Debuts World’s First PoE Drapery Motor

Dendo Systems Debuts World’s First PoE Drapery Motor

Dendo Systems is introducing what it says is the world’s first Power over Ethernet (PoE) drapery motor at CEDIA Expo, expanding its RENKEI Platform for automated window coverings. The platform combines PoE-powered roller shade and drapery motors with the RENKEI Processor, allowing installers to power, control, and monitor shades over standard Ethernet infrastructure while simplifying setup and integration.

Designed for AV and smart building environments, the RENKEI Platform eliminates the need for proprietary wiring and centralized power panels by treating each motor as a network-connected device. At CEDIA Expo, visitors will see the system automatically discover, configure, group, and control motors in real time, demonstrating how network-native shading can streamline installation and improve automation workflows.

Dendo Systems, an Australian manufacturer of motor and control technology for automated window coverings, debuts the world’s first Power over Ethernet (PoE) drapery motor at Expo (Launchpad, booth 3246). The new motor forms part of the company’s broader RENKEI Platform, which brings direct Ethernet power, control and real-time position feedback to motorized roller shades and draperies.

The RENKEI Platform combines network-native PoE roller-shade and curtain motors with the RENKEI Processor, which simplifies motor discovery, limit setting, grouping in addition to providing an open API that enables easy integration with third-party automation systems.

Dendo Systems’ architecture treats every shade motor as a true network device. Instead of proprietary motor-control wiring and centralized power panels, each motor connects directly to standard Ethernet and PoE infrastructure. An internal energy buffer keeps the required PoE budget to approximately three watts per motor while supporting individual addressing, synchronized control, and real-time position feedback.

Booth visitors will experience a RENKEI PoE motor get plugged in, automatically appear in the commissioning interface, and then get configured, grouped, and controlled live. “Ours is a practical demonstration of how network-native shading can simplify installation while providing precise control and feedback to the automation system,” says Yi Liu, director of Dendo Systems Pty Ltd.

“We believe that CEDIA Expo is the perfect setting for Dendo Systems as it brings together the integrators, technology partners, and manufacturers for whom our RENKEI Platform was specifically developed,” added Liu. “Our primary goal is to introduce our brand and gather direct feedback to best build the support and distribution structure required for the market.”

  • Kramer commits to price stability and product availability amid continued AV market uncertainty

Kramer commits to price stability and product availability amid continued AV market uncertainty

Kramer is helping AV partners and customers manage ongoing market uncertainty by committing to stable pricing across most of its product portfolio through the end of 2026. As rising semiconductor costs and supply chain challenges continue to impact the technology industry, the company aims to give integrators, distributors and end users greater confidence when quoting and delivering projects within existing budgets.

In addition to price stability, Kramer is increasing inventory across its high-demand product lines to improve product availability and reduce delivery delays. The company says these commitments reflect its focus on supporting customers with practical business decisions alongside technology innovation, helping AV and IT professionals keep projects on schedule despite continued market volatility.

Kramer, a global leader in professional AV and collaboration solutions, today announced a global customer commitment designed to help partners and end customers quote with confidence, deliver projects on time, and navigate continued market uncertainty through the remainder of 2026.

As organisations continue delivering technology projects against budgets established at the beginning of 2026, many are facing increasing pressure from spiraling costs, supply chain disruption and longer planning cycles. At the same time, many manufacturers across multiple technology sectors have introduced price increases driven by continued volatility in the global semiconductor market.

To help customers reduce uncertainty and keep projects moving, Kramer is making two strategic commitments through the remainder of 2026: Price stability and improved product availability.

    Price Stability

As part of a global initiative, Kramer will maintain current pricing across the vast majority of its product portfolio through the end of 2026, helping customers and partners continue delivering projects within approved budgets and quote future work with greater confidence.

PC-based products — including VIA collaboration devices, Control Brains and Management devices — are excluded from this commitment due to the continued volatility of processors, memory, operating system licensing and other computing components.

    Improved Product Availability

Alongside its pricing commitment, Kramer is making a strategic investment in inventory across key, high-demand product families to improve product availability and support faster delivery.

By increasing inventory levels, the company aims to reduce delivery uncertainty, help customers move more quickly from quotation to deployment, and minimise project delays.

“We understand the pressures our customers and partners are facing, with many of them working within budgets that were approved months ago, even as market conditions continue to change,” said Gilad Yron, CEO of Kramer. “We believe a technology partner should do more than deliver innovative products. We should also help customers navigate uncertainty wherever we can.

“While costs continue to rise across our industry, we’ve made the strategic decision to maintain pricing across the vast majority of our portfolio through the remainder of 2026 while investing in greater product availability,” Yron added. “It’s our way of sharing the burden with our customers and partners, helping them plan with greater confidence and keep their business moving.”

Yron believes the wider market will continue to experience supply chain volatility for at least another year, driven largely by unprecedented global demand for semiconductor technologies supporting AI infrastructure and data centre expansion.

“The AV industry is closely tied to the wider semiconductor ecosystem,” he said. “Demand for silicon-based components continues to outpace supply across multiple industries. We expect that imbalance to continue before capacity gradually catches up over the next twelve months. While we can’t control every market condition, we can control how we respond to it.”

The initiative reflects Kramer’s long-standing commitment to building strong partnerships with customers, distributors and system integrators by combining technology innovation with practical business decisions that support successful project delivery.

“Innovation will always remain central to Kramer,” Yron added. “But great partnerships are built not only through technology, but through the decisions we make when our customers need us most.”

  • AIMS Announces Second IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event

AIMS Announces Second IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event

AIMS, together with VSF and the EBU, has announced its second IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event, taking place Aug. 24–28 at the EBU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Open to AIMS and VSF member companies, the event will help expand the growing ecosystem of IPMX-certified products while validating new features that support secure, interoperable AV-over-IP deployments. Ahead of the certification event, members will participate in an interoperability testing session in Montreal to refine products and ensure readiness.

The certification program will introduce new capabilities including Host Key Exchange Protocol (HKEP), HDCP support for protected content, the Privacy Encryption Protocol (PEP), and HEVC and AVC compression profiles. Building on the success of the first certification event, which certified 48 products from 11 manufacturers, this next phase continues to strengthen IPMX as an open standards-based solution for Pro AV, broadcast, education, corporate, and live event applications.

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), together with the Video Services Forum (VSF) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), today announced the second IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event. Scheduled for Aug. 24–28 at the EBU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the week-long gathering is open to AIMS and VSF member companies and will expand the growing IPMX-certified product ecosystem while introducing formal certification of new capabilities developed as part of the IPMX roadmap.

The Geneva certification event follows a “dirty hands” interoperability session scheduled for July 20–24 at the Matrox Video facility in Montreal, Canada. That members-only session will give AIMS participants hands-on testing of new IPMX developments ahead of the formal certification event, continuing the model of pre-certification interoperability work that has proven effective throughout the IPMX program.

The August event will introduce certification for capabilities that have been in active development prior to the launch of the full realized standard in 2026. These include Host Key Exchange Protocol (HKEP) and HDCP handling for protected content, and the Privacy Encryption Protocol (PEP) security layer, which enables interoperable content encryption across multi-vendor deployments. HEVC and AVC compression profiles, which have seen strong industry interest in enabling efficient transport across existing infrastructure, are also progressing toward certification.

“The first certification event in January established that IPMX works across vendors at scale,” said Sam Recine, IPMX Pro AV Working Group Chair at AIMS. “The August event is where we take the next steps, expanding the certified product base and validating the capabilities that integrators and end users have been asking about since certification launched. Each event builds on the last, and the momentum we’re seeing from member companies reflects real confidence in where IPMX is headed.”
