AVWeek 597: Community AV

The Power Is Yours

Clowns to left of me, jokers to the right and here we are stuck in the middle. Regardless of what coast you’re on (or maybe neither) we are still committed to bringing you the latest news and information coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. We are joined by “The Dude” from Just Add Power Taft Stricklin, and Founder of OneFirefly Ron Callis.

AVIXA’s Pro-AV Business Index has reported drops in their November report. Compared to October, the Sales Index has gone from 65.1 to 57, while the Employment Index has dropped from 61.2 to 59.8. These numbers are still on the growth side of the chart, but it does have meaning considering a looming recession in the balance. What does this report tell us about the market going into the new year?

Barco has released their next model in the CX ClickShare Conferencing line. The CX-50 allows users to connect their own device to share screens and video in a conferencing space. We discuss the many facets and advantages when it comes to “BYOD”, or bring your own device solutions and what that does for sustainability, hygiene, security and more.

AtlasIED has joined the Security Industry Association, the leading trade association for security solutions across the globe. An organization like this is important, but not every integrator or company will need to be a part of the SIA. However, there are many organizations and associations within the AV sphere that one would find value in being a part of, or at least aware of. What are the groups that someone should know when they want to make an impact within the AV industry?
