AVWeek 603: Certified AV

Each One, Teach One, Reach One

Don’t be thrown off by the time change! AVWeek will be your anchor to keep you consistent, consistently bringing the latest news and stories from the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is AV veteran Dawn Meade and Business Development Manager of Cloud & UCC for AVI-SPL Amelia Vrabel.

New regulations in the EU are imposing stricter requirements for displays when it comes to energy. While the regulations do have an exemption on professional displays that extend to digital signage, it is still expected to make a impact on product development within the space. We what this means for the digital signage space as we move forward.

Level 3 Audiovisual, a name that already sounds like a certification, has achieved AV9000 Compliance. This designation showcases how they have implemented quality management processes in their services, meeting the standards by the Association for Quality in AV Technology (AQAV). Are there any other certifications or qualifications that can make a business stand out above the rest?

Finally, we discuss the importance of mentorships within the industry. This comes off the heels of our recent reboot of The Women in AV podcast, which talked about this very subject in their first episode. How do we make mentors within the business? Does it require an official program, or is it just something that can happen in the wild? Discussing what it means to have those people to rely on and make a stronger cohesive industry.
