It’s time to wrap up all the latest news and information surrounding the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is AV expert Willie Franklin, and Learning Technologist for Dublin City University Justin Dawson.

Canon has a new set of cinema lens they are going to be showing off at NAB 2023. As the name “National Association of Broadcasters” would suggest, the show is all about the technology of broadcasting and live production. How important is the broadcast market for the AV industry? Taking a closer look at the production side of these solutions and how they intersect with the commercial av space.

Confidence in a metaverse platform is waning due to cuts from big businesses. Meta is cutting 10,000 jobs and winding down support for NFTs, Microsoft is planning to cut 10,000 jobs as well, with 100 being in the Metaverse Core team. Disney’s also shutting down their Next Generation Storytelling & Consumer Experiences group. Has the hype for Web3 and the metaverse finally died down? We attempt to do more than dance on the grave and genuinely look at what went wrong.

Samsung has opened a new online store for business-to-business customers. While only in Germany right now, this will extend to 30 countries across the world. What does it mean for an integrator if the client can just go straight to the manufacturer and get what they want? Looking at how this will impact the AV industry as a whole.
