EDTech 118: Reactive Vs. Proactive

Fix It Before It Breaks

While the spring semester may be close to winding down, the work never stops for technology managers. We’re here to bring you all the latest news surrounding higher education and how it connects to AV. To join us for just that we have  Scott Tiner from Bates College, Ernie Bailey from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, (some of) Rob Rasberry from Drexel University and Paul Dorin from Johns Hopkins University.

It’s crazy to think, but InfoComm 2024 is nearly upon us. AVIXA has discussed a significant focus on digital signage. Only fair since we’ll be in Vegas with a stunning amount of video displays, billboards and more. We discuss how digital signage is used across campuses and what innovations could help educations spaces.

Scott Tiner writes again talking about technical debt. Where is the line to replace solutions in a classroom rather than fix the ones in place, and what’s the cost effectiveness on either side? We discuss these issues in budgeting and what it means to be proactive rather than reactive.

And since we’re almost into summer, it might be a good idea to do some spring cleaning. Only slightly metaphorical in nature. How do you devise a list of things that need to be fixed or upkept so that by the time the next semester rolls around you’re ready?
