Ties That Bind

It seems that this week we’re in a New York state of mind. But wherever you are, you can rest assured that we are here to cover the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Executive Vice President for the residential side Crestron John Clancy and President of Source Home Theater Todd Anthony Puma.

Savant has officially acquired Racepoint Energy, now being named as Savant Power. Racepoint is known for smart electrical panels and other power related solutions for both consumers and intergrators. What does it mean for Savant to get this automated power systems in addition to their lighting, climate and security control? Does this bring the conversation of power solutions to the forefront for integrators? Looking at what this means for Savant and the residential space moving forward.

By all accounts, this is the Nokia you are probably thinking of. For DIY residential home solutions, this seems to be a cut above the rest. Does it have the power to go against the heavy hitters in that space like Philips? What will it take to sell?

Finally, we talk about zip ties. No, really. Although normally operating within the aerospace industry, RETYZ has developed and patented a Releasable Cable Tie. As the name would suggest, it can be secured around an object but also capable of being released with repeated use in mind. The crew swaps their war stories about the cable ties that were and what this could mean for installs in the future.
