Outlooks on the national economy is worsening according to a report from the 2023 Small Business Index. 20% of small business owners stated that the American economy is in good health, which is down from 27% lat quarter. Rumblings of recession and market downturn have been heard for the last few years. What does this mean for small businesses in our space? We discuss what this report means and how it affects the industry as a whole.

Caster Communications’ Lexie Gardiner writes for Residential Systems about 5 free PR tools for the integrators in the CI channel. These tools range from media research to marketing sources and public relations management tools. AV itself has a problem with letting our space be known, which is why so many people seem to “fall into” AV rather than seek it out. How can integrators get themselves out in the public eye and show that AV is a booming space?

ADT has announced integrated smart home security solutions specifically for DIY customers. This is part of a partnership between the company and Google, offering an ADT smart home hub, Nest Doorbell and sensors. What does it mean for a large security company like ADT to offer these DIY solutions? Looking at the home security space and how this will affect integrators.
