Integrators Or Integreeters?
It’s time to discuss the biggest stories from the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Jason Knott of D-Tools and Steven Brawner from ProAudio Georgia.
The International WELL Building Institute has announced their WELL residential program. In this pilot stage, the IWBI is working with global users to make this new standard into something robust. Have we finally made it, now that we’re bogged down with so many different standards and programs? Between the Cyber Trust Mark, energy ratings and now this WELL program, there are a lot of potential hoops for integrators. How do they benefit this space?
Henry Clifford writes in Residential Systems about a simple phrase: “If we touch it, we own it.” In his words, that means that customers get their entire system documented no matter how insignificant the job. This practice will foster a better proactive space for integrators rather than reacting to potential issues down the road. How can other integrators adopt this process to their own business?
In breaking news, Wal-Mart has purchased VIZIO for $2.3 billion. Since 2002, VIzio has been a known name for economical HDTVs. However, in 2015 it was charged by the FTC for collecting and selling client information to advertisers. What does this move by Wal-Mart mean for both companies? Will this have any real impact on our space?
