Shure Opens Additional Manufacturing Facility in Juarez

Shure, the manufacturer of audio equipment since 1925, specializes in microphones, wireless systems, in-ear monitors, earphones, and conferencing systems. Based in Niles, Illinois, with over 40 manufacturing facilities and regional sales offices, Shure is trusted for critical listening and high-stakes moments.

Shure’s Board of Directors and Executive Staff inaugurated the company’s second manufacturing facility in Juárez, Mexico, to expand production capabilities. The event included speeches by key executives and highlighted the significance of the expansion for Shure and the region.

The expansion aims to meet the growing demand for Shure products globally, enhance the company’s supply chain, and continue leveraging the success of its existing presence in Juárez. The new facility signifies Shure’s commitment to supporting its customers and fostering growth in the region, ultimately strengthening its position in the market

Members of Shure’s Board of Directors and Executive Staff traveled to Juárez, Mexico, to formally open the second Shure manufacturing facility there.

In the 1980s, founder S.N. Shure personally selected the city of Juárez as the location of Shure’s first manufacturing facility in Mexico. Production began on October 1, 1984, with only ten Associates in a rented building. Shure moved its operations to a new Shure-owned facility in 1990. In 2004, Shure expanded the plant space by 15,000 square feet. The expansion continued to 21,000 square feet in 2006.

With the continued growth, it finally came time to open a second facility.

This new facility allows for even greater product manufacturing capability. More than 130 Associates from both plants gathered to share in this special moment.

The ceremony began with an introduction by Monse Luna, Juárez HR Manager.

Shure President and CEO Chris Schyvinck and Juárez Plant Manager Juventino Herrera delivered a welcome speech and a brief overview of the project.

Jamie Griffin, Senior VP and Chief Supply Chain Officer, emphasized the importance of this facility and its impact on the company and to the region.

“We have a long and successful history here and we want to continue to leverage this legacy as we support our customers,” said Griffin. “The team in Juárez is an incredibly important part of the Shure family and with the addition of this new facility, the Shure story will continue here for many years to come.”

Within the next decade, the ramp-up of the new facility is expected to add up to 500 new Associates.

“By expanding our presence in Juárez, we can enhance our global supply chain, ensuring that our products reach the hands of our valued customers swiftly and seamlessly,” said Schyvinck. “This additional manufacturing capability will allow us to meet the growing demands of our customers, no matter where they are located.”

The legendary Shure SM58 Vocal Microphone is manufactured in Juárez as well as Shure’s MICROFLEX and BETA lines, the iconic 55SH, and many wireless products like ULX-D, QLX-D, Axient Digital and more.
