Clear-Com, a provider of real-time communications solutions, has consistently improved collaboration in various professional settings. Their innovative technologies, including portable wired intercom systems, have received numerous awards for their high-quality audio, reliability, and scalability.

Clear-Com participated in the 2024 Rise Academy Summer School, where they provided communication systems and hands-on training for students learning media production. The company, represented by John Sparrow, oversaw the setup of TV studio communications and guided students through live broadcast roles using Clear-Com technology.

Clear-Com’s involvement demonstrates their commitment to educating and fostering the next generation of media professionals by offering practical experience with industry-leading communication systems in real-world production settings.

Clear-Com® is proud to have participated in the Rise Academy Summer School 2024, a transformative experience aimed at introducing young people to the dynamic world of media technology. Represented by Senior Systems Consultant of UK Sales John Sparrow, Clear-Com played a pivotal role in the hands-on workshops designed to immerse students in the intricacies of TV studio builds and live broadcast production.

The Rise Academy Summer School, now in its third year, offers young people the opportunity to gain practical skills in media production. This year’s event saw students actively participate in building a fully functional TV studio, creating content for a quiz show, and exploring essential broadcast roles including Director, Producer, Floor Manager, and Communications team members. Clear-Com was integral in overseeing communications in Studio A and guiding the setup in the Large Lecture Theatre.

“We were thrilled to be part of such an impactful event that allows the next generation to experience real-world media production,” said John. “Clear-Com was integral in providing the communications systems for both studios, utilising the award winning Arcadia Central Station with Helix-Net control panels and FSII wireless, all installed and operated by the students”.

Over the course of the program, students rotated through different technical roles, including Comms, Audio, Cameras, VT, Graphics, and Vision. John guided the students in managing studio communications, giving them insight into how crucial collaboration is during live productions.

The event also featured explorations into emerging technologies, such as virtual production and cloud technology, giving students a broad view of the media landscape. Students were able to build upon their skills and learn how an entire production is delivered, from pre-production planning to live execution.

John reflected on the experience, stating, “It’s inspiring to see young people take such an active interest in media technology. Our role at Clear-Com is to make sure teams can communicate seamlessly, and watching students grasp the importance of reliable communications during a live production was a rewarding experience.”

Clear-Com’s participation and sponsorship in the Rise Academy Summer School reaffirms the company’s commitment to fostering the next generation of media professionals by providing access to industry-leading communication technologies.
