Crestron Earns SAVe Certification, Advancing Sustainable Practices in the AV Industry

Sustainability in AV (SAVe) is a U.S.-based organization aiming to unite stakeholders in the audiovisual field to work towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Crestron has become the first AV manufacturer to achieve Sustainability in AV (SAVe) Certification, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability through educational workshops, cross-departmental collaboration, and initiatives aligned with the 2030 SDGs.

This highlights Crestron’s leadership in environmental and social responsibility within the AV industry, showcasing how sustainable practices can be embedded across operations, inspiring others in the sector to follow suit.

Sustainability in AV (SAVe), a U.S.-based organization focused on mobilizing the audiovisual industry to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proudly announces that Crestron has become SAVe Certified, underscoring its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. This milestone was reached following Crestron’s participation in the SAVe Certification Program on July 18, 2024, at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

The event brought together over 30 Crestron employees from multiple departments, alongside five SAVe representatives and a guest speaker from Columbia’s Climate School. The day’s agenda included powerful educational sessions on climate change, e-waste management, plastic pollution, and recycling. These were followed by a workshop where Crestron employees collaborated to develop strategies for aligning the company’s operations with the SDGs.

“We are thrilled that Crestron is the first manufacturer in the AV industry to become SAVe Certified,” exclaimed Christina De Bono, Founder and President of SAVe. “It’s a demonstration of its commitment to align with the Sustainable Development Goals and become a sustainability leader in our industry.”

Breaking Barriers Through Cross-Departmental Collaboration

The SAVe Certification program highlighted the transformative impact of engaging representatives from several departments. Crestron employees engaged in a rich exchange of ideas, leading to innovative and forward-thinking initiatives, particularly in Product Design, which was a focal point of discussion. This collaborative spirit demonstrated the power of a unified approach to tackling sustainability challenges and created a shared sense of purpose.

Crestron’s Sustainability Workshop Series

Inspired by the event, Crestron has taken decisive action to integrate sustainability into its core strategy. The company has launched a series of monthly workshops, ensuring that all three pillars of sustainable development—environmental, social, and economic—are deeply embedded in its practices. These workshops focus on:

  • Facilities Management
  • Social Sustainability
  • Design for Sustainability
  • Supply Chain and Manufacturing

Crestron’s efforts exemplify how organizations can drive meaningful change by implementing comprehensive and continuous sustainability programs.
