EPOS Powers-Up Battery Replacement Strategy To Stay Ahead of the Game

EPOS is strengthening its sustainability efforts by making battery replacement easier across its headset and speakerphone portfolio. The company announced that all future product launches will feature batteries that users can replace using a simple paperclip or similar tool, eliminating the need for complex procedures. This initiative is designed to extend product lifespan, reduce electronic waste, and support a more circular approach to technology ownership.

The move also helps EPOS prepare for compliance with the upcoming EU Battery Regulation, which takes effect in February 2027. The newly launched EPOS IMPACT 500 Bluetooth headset already follows this approach, and replacement batteries will continue to be available for up to five years after products are discontinued. By combining easy battery replacement, long-term product support, and environmental management practices, EPOS aims to deliver greater value and sustainability for AV and IT professionals.

Headset and speakerphone manufacturer EPOS is ’charging-up’ a battery replacement program, to simplify a more sustainable future, ahead of new legislation coming into force, across parts of the world.

Going forward all new product launches will provide the option to replace batteries with a simple paperclip or similar tool, rather than any complex or complicated procedures.

Søren Holm Printz, VP Corporate Strategy & Product Management, says EPOS is committed to extending the lifespan of its products by offering user-friendly battery replacement solutions.

“By enabling customers to easily replace batteries, we help extend the product lifetime and reduce e-waste, supporting a more circular product lifecycle.”

Thousands

He added: “Battery replaceability is integrated into EPOS product design from the earliest development stages through to after-market support. This includes providing spare batteries and clear, easy-to-follow guides to ensure safe and simple replacement and waste management at product end-of-life. This approach has been a key part of EPOS’ design philosophy for many years.

“Today, most EPOS products feature easily replaceable batteries. While some models require commercially available tools, others support tool-free replacement. Since the introduction of our first replaceable battery model in 2010, EPOS has sold thousands of spare batteries annually, highlighting the value of this feature for our customers.

“In alignment with the EU Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542), EPOS is further simplifying battery replacement in upcoming product launches. New product launches now offer straightforward battery replacement only using just a paperclip or similar tool. Furthermore, updated replacement multi-language guides are available, ensuring a seamless experience for end-users. With these measures, EPOS will be fully compliant with the requirements of the EU Battery Regulation by its effective date, February 18, 2027.”

Customer trust

The EPOS IMPACT 500 on-ear Bluetooth headset is the newest member of the product range, and part of the enhanced sustainability strategy, where just a paperclip is required. Furthermore, original equipment replacement batteries will remain available through EPOS and its partners for five years after a product is discontinued.

“As part of our long-term product sustainability strategy, EPOS is dedicated to extending the life of its solutions and maintaining reliable end-of-life product support, reinforcing its commitment to quality, sustainability and customer trust. This is complemented by ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, which provides a framework for organizations to identify, manage and reduce their environmental impact while ensuring legal compliance,” Søren concluded.
