    Chyron is pleased to announce its partnership with Vanguard LED for NAB 2026. LED displays are an integral part of Chyron’s booth, bringing content to life for visitors.  Creating and driving content to LED displays is a core competency within the Chyron product portfolio through PRIME Video Walls (used in studio video walls and in commercial and experiential displays) and PRIME Click Effects (driving large in venue LED presentations).

    Nanolumens Showcases Husker Heritage at the University of Nebraska’s 315,000-Square-Foot Osborne Legacy Complex

    Since 1869, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) has cultivated champions, scholars and leaders. Today, UNL is home to nearly 24,000 students across nine colleges and more than 200 degree programs, spanning undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Notably, the university’s athletic tradition is among the most storied in the nation. A proud member of the Big Ten Conference, Nebraska competes in NCAA Division I, fielding 24 varsity teams that have carried forward a legacy.

    In 2023, the University of Nebraska unveiled the Osborne Legacy Complex, a 315,000-square-foot facility designed to honor the history of Husker football while providing world-class amenities to support current and future athletes. The $165 million facility features cutting-edge training and recovery areas, a modern locker room, team dining facilities, meeting rooms, and recreational spaces, including gaming and theater rooms, that foster camaraderie and connection among players.

    At the heart of the Osborne Legacy Complex is the Hall of Champions, a 15,000-square-foot space that celebrates the history of Husker football. The university’s visitors are welcomed through a 38-foot glass lobby that reveals an 87-foot by 18-foot Nanolumens Engage Series video wall showcasing the university’s history. The display presents a rotation of Nebraska’s championship moments, legendary players and All-American history, offering an immersive storytelling experience visible even from outside the building.

    “Nanolumens is featured across Osborne Legacy Complex, including the locker room displays, the experience lobby and multiple areas throughout the building,” said Martin Oteng, director of video technology for football at the University of Nebraska. “In our lobby, fans can stand outside and watch the history, the championships and the players’ stories. It’s a complete experience that connects our past with our present.”

    The Frank Solich Locker Room spans 12,000 square feet and features 145 custom lockers. Its most striking feature is an 82-foot Nanolumens Nixel Series display that stretches across the length of the room’s ceiling and down the wall, displaying bold team visuals such as the Nebraska logo and player content. The display enhances team unity and creates an atmosphere of pride and motivation for athletes as they prepare for practices and games.

    “We have a huge LED display across the locker room that shows the big Nebraska logo from one side to the other,” explained Oteng. “It’s bright, it’s bold and it represents who we are. The players love it.”

    In the gaming theater room, a large 16-foot by 9-foot Nixel Series video wall display doubles as a video game setup and a full-scale theater screen. Nebraska’s players frequently gather there for gaming sessions and team movie events, immersing themselves in a cinema-quality experience supported by state-of-the-art speakers and luxurious reclining seating. “It’s almost like an actual theater,” said Oteng. “The image is crisp and immersive, and it’s become a favorite space for the team.”

    Nanolumens displays also provide a platform for coaches and staff to review game film, communicate key messages, motivational graphics and team standards making them integral tools for engagement and reinforcement of the program’s values.  The university integrated additional displays throughout the building to extend the digital storytelling that ties the entire facility together, including the NFL Wall, Countdown Clock and Adidas Wall uniform display case featuring long Nixel Series displays.

    For Oteng and the Nebraska staff, choosing Nanolumens was a decision grounded in trust. “We had used Nanolumens before for our stadium display,” he explained. “It made sense to stay on the same trend of video quality and reliability. Nanolumens’ team can support us on-site whenever we need it, which has been invaluable.” He added, “From the installation phase to now, the entire process was seamless. The engineers walked us through every step and it was easy to understand from a technical perspective. With Nanolumens, we appreciate having a direct line of communication and the ability to diagnose issues quickly.”

    The installation of Nanolumens’ video walls and displays have transformed how the Nebraska football program communicates, motivates and connects. “We post our standards and reminders, and sometimes we play player highlights to build confidence. It’s become an essential tool in how we engage our athletes,” Oteng shared.

    From the monumental Hall of Champions display to the personalized locker room and recovery visuals, Nanolumens has helped the University of Nebraska create a facility that celebrates tradition. “I really love Nanolumens,” Oteng concluded. “Everything they provide, from the technology to the people, has been incredible.     PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays and complementary solutions, is proud to share that 30x Philips MediaSuite TVs have been selected to bring personalised home comforts to patients and their families staying at the Sternenbrücke children’s and youth hospice in Hamburg.

    Carrying the motto ‘We can’t give life more days, but we can give more life to the days’ – the Sternenbrücke hospice opened its doors in 2003, with a focus on providing specialist care and a safe environment for children, adolescents, and young adults suffering from life shortening illnesses.

    With an outdated TV system with minimal capabilities and often experiencing obstructed channels, the Sternenbrücke team turned to AV integration specialists, AVARA, and PPDS, to deliver a modern solution. Key requirements included bringing the familiarity and ‘barrier free’ accessibility of a range of entertainment services similar to those enjoyed at home. In addition, the hospice required the ability to create and share important information directly to patients, collectively in communal areas, via the TV screen, rather than paper.

    Home from home entertainment

    30x Philips MediaSuite TVs (32”-55”), as well as a Philips Business TV, were installed inside a range of environments around the hospice, including private and communal areas, each tailored around the needs of the patients within those spaces.

    AVARA’s system delivered simple and clear operation and menu navigation with a diverse range of age appropriate entertainment, including the option for subtitles, and a simple remote control.

    AVARA connected the Philips Professional Displays using PPDS’ CMND server, implementing a network that significantly reduces workload by enabling the control and updating of all TVs centrally, eliminating the need for individual management in each room.

    Shared moments

    Each room is now equipped with access to a wide range of apps and streaming services, allowing families to tune in to their favourite films and series, browse media libraries, listen to the radio, or enjoy gaming on the connected PlayStations.

    In addition, AVARA integrated a dedicated information portal for parents, providing access to general details about Sternenbrücke, as well as up to the minute news and information.

    By modernising the TV system, AVARA has helped create a home from home environment where patients and families can come together without concern. The modern, intuitive technology enables families to share valuable moments focused entirely on comfort, ease of use, and joy.

    “In front of the motion platform, we’ve integrated a spherical-shaped projection screen,” explained Marcel Koebeli, founder and chief executive officer for Vector Simulations. “The seamless calibration is produced by Scalable’s software. Scalable adjusts the geometry of a projected image and blends it seamlessly when using multiple projectors to deliver a unified, calibrated visual experience.”

    While the simulator was originally conceived for automotive training, its versatility opens the door to countless applications. “It could simulate anything from a Formula One car to an amphibious military vehicle,” said Koebeli. “It’s a dynamic simulator designed for a wide range of applications. It’s highly agile and delivers the necessary stimuli to create a fully immersive and realistic driving experience.”

    The use cases for Vector’s simulators span from tactical driver training for military, police and emergency services to automotive hardware and software development to cognitive research applications. “One use case is driver licensing,” Koebeli shared. “For example, in Switzerland, elderly drivers are required to be assessed by a general practitioner. Instead, they could take a 10-minute simulator test to assess reaction time and decision-making in real-world scenarios.”

    For the simulator to deliver lifelike experiences, the visuals must be flawless. “Scalable’s software plays a big role here,” explained Koebeli. “First, Scalable offers automated calibration, which simplifies and speeds up the setup process. Some companies offer automated calibration, but you often need manual input and fine-tuning. Scalable’s calibration is reliable and produces accurate results.”

    He emphasized the importance of precise calibration, especially with a moving platform. “If the calibration is off, the image wobbles during movement. Scalable ensures this doesn’t happen, which is vital for immersion.”

    Scalable’s software automatically adjusts the geometry, brightness, and color of the projected image across multiple projectors, resulting in one continuous, high-resolution display. The software simplifies setup through true automated calibration, reducing the need for manual fine-tuning while maintaining remarkable accuracy.

    Founded in 2004, Scalable is the original inventor and patent holder of camera-based automatic warp and blend technology. Its innovation stems from research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) by Dr. Rajeev Surati and Dr. Tom Knight.     Beyond performance, Koebeli praised Scalable for its strong technical support. “This is a complex system with multiple projectors and PCs, as each projector has its own PC rendering the image,” he explained. “While occasional issues arise due to system complexity, Scalable has always provided fast, effective support. Their teams’ responsiveness, agility and reliability have made them an outstanding partner for this project.”

This enables businesses to easily refresh menus, promotions, and internal communications without recurring printing costs or operational delays.

    The new model is A4-sized, lightweight, and flexible for deployment across various touchpoints like counters, shelves, and lobbies. It also emphasizes sustainability, featuring a housing made from recycled plastic and bio-resin derived from phytoplankton, along with fully paper-based packaging. Content can be managed locally via the Samsung E-Paper App or remotely through Samsung’s VXT platform, allowing centralized control, real-time updates, and accurate content previewing for efficient digital signage operations.

    Easy content management with Samsung E-Paper App and VXT

    Samsung Color E-Paper supports simple content management for both local and remote operation. The Samsung E-Paper App, available on Android and iOS devices, allows staff to update and manage content locally from mobile devices.

    The display is also compatible with Samsung Visual eXperience Transformation (VXT), Samsung’s cloud-based content and device management platform. VXT allows teams to remotely manage hardware settings, troubleshoot devices and create and deploy content from a centralized platform.

    For Color E-Paper deployments, VXT includes tools to preview content and check color accuracy before publishing, helping ensure messaging appears as intended.

    DisplayNote Technologies has announced a significant enhancement to its screen sharing platform with the introduction of AirPlay Touchback support, designed to expand how AirPlay is used in modern teaching environments.

    The update enables teachers to content from their iPad via AirPlay while interacting with that content directly from the main classroom display. The result is a more responsive connection between personal device and shared screen removing the need for educators to remain physically tied to their iPad during lessons.

    While AirPlay has traditionally been used for one-way screen mirroring, DisplayNote’s enhancement introduces a more interactive layer, allowing classroom displays to act as an extension of the teacher’s device.

    For display vendors, this represents a meaningful evolution in how classroom technology can support teaching and learning.     University of Birmingham Future-Proofs its Campus Learning Experience

    The University of Birmingham is one of the UK’s largest universities with almost 30,000 students in attendance. As with many established universities, it faced the challenge of how to modernise its diverse estate to meet the contemporary learning-styles that have arisen in recent years. Student expectations around audiovisual technology have changed and the University of Birmingham’s LRAT / Libraries and Learning Resources in-house AV team worked with GVAV, its longstanding integration partner, to upgrade dated equipment over the Summer of 2025.

    Conceived as a campus-wide initiative to be carried out over the long-term, the university team initially sought to upgrade several key learning spaces which could quickly benefit from moving beyond the constraints of legacy equipment to create truly flexible, high-impact environments for both students and lecturers.

    “Some of our older rooms were saddled with dim, non-interactive projection systems and related connectivity issues,” says James Ball, LRAT – AV Designer and Project Lead. Lecturers had become reluctant to use the technology, and students could find the group-work experience frustrating. Our goal was simple: to improve the visual and learning experience for all. A big help in this respect was our use of a broad range of Avocor displays.

    Avocor was deployed across several distinct teaching environments, each with a specific learning goal and technology configuration. SportEx LT1 is one of the university’s flagship lecture theatres and is used for large-scale lecturing, sports performance and biometric analysis. It also has the potential to be a revenue-generator once it is made available for commercial hire. However, the room suffered from a legacy Issue: it relied on a dual projection setup, which on occasions resulted in an image that was difficult to view clearly from the back rows of the large lecture theatre. To address this issue, as part of the AV upgrade, the room was fitted with an Avocor X Series DVLED display.

    The X Series was chosen specifically over a standard projector wall or LCD videowall for its superior brightness and contrast. This ensures content can be viewed effortlessly and clearly by every person in the room, even those seated at the very back. The high-resolution, high-contrast wall serves as a central focal point, displaying content with unparalleled visual clarity – for sports analysis work, clarity and zero latency are non-negotiable. The Avocor DVLED provided the brightness and the visual scale that simply couldn’t be achieved with a standard projection system, making it a truly immersive experience for our students.

    Opting for the X Series also provided a significant logistical advantage during the installation. Projection is notoriously expensive and time-consuming to install due to the requirement for specialist scaffolding. The X Series install was much quicker, delivered to site by Avocor, streamlining the process for GVAV. To maximise adoption, the system was designed for simplicity, and the control panel layouts are intuitively designed, ensuring lecturers can operate the powerful new system with minimal training.

    The project also completely redesigned key spaces Muirhead 112 (featuring 8 x 55″ K-Series displays) and Y3 G28 (with 5 x 55″ K-Series displays) to move away from traditional lecture-style seating. These rooms were re-envisioned as highly flexible “collaboration pods,” specifically tailored to facilitate and enhance small-group active learning. Students can connect their personal devices—laptops or tablets—to the Avocor K-Series 55″ displays enabling immediate collaboration. The system also provides the lecturer with effortless monitoring and control over all screens. This capability allows them to quickly share a central content source to all pods simultaneously. The K-Series was selected for its blend of performance and form factor to enable seamless group collaboration.

    In further teaching environments, Muirhead 109 and 118, the team implemented a dual-display configuration to support the dynamic requirements of hybrid teaching. A large 98″ K-Series display is expertly paired with a second, smaller 65″ K-Series screen. This setup dedicates the primary 98″ screen to displaying core teaching content, such as slides, digital whiteboards, or lecture materials. The secondary 65″ screen can mirror the content on the 98” screen or can be used independently for group work.

    The University of Birmingham’s campus-wide AV transformation stands as a testament to what can be achieved when an integrator partner like GVAV works in close partnership with the client team (LRAT), truly understanding their needs and aspirations. The milestone marks two decades of growth for the privately-owned and operated U.S. company, founded in 2006 and based in the greater Atlanta area since its inception.

    The new headquarters is nearly 45,000 square feet and consolidates the company’s offices and warehouse operations into a single location. Nanolumens previously operated from a 32,000-square-foot office center in Norcross, and the expanded facility brings together engineering, operations, sales, finance, and administrative teams under one roof. The building includes dedicated warehouse space and increased vertical storage capacity designed to support logistics, product fulfillment and spare product and module management. The move allows Nanolumens to scale operations more efficiently as demand for LED visualization technologies continues to grow.

    A major feature of the new headquarters is a 2,500-square-foot demonstration showroom that showcases Nanolumens’ display technologies in real-world environments. The showroom includes application-focused zones highlighting use cases such as control room environments, immersive installations and architectural display systems. The showroom integrates technologies from ecosystem partners, including NovaStar, Barco, Megapixel, 7thSense, Pixera, and Smart Monkeys, and content from studios such as Gentilhomme, Render Impact, and Float4, highlighting how display technology, processing platforms, and digital content work together in deployed visual environments. The integrated setup reflects Nanolumens’ approach to supporting complete visualization systems rather than standalone display hardware.

    The anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the company’s evolution from an early LED display pioneer to a mature organization serving a growing global market. In its early years, Nanolumens focused on developing LED display technologies capable of supporting complex architectural installations and custom applications. As LED technology has evolved, the company has expanded its capabilities to support both customized installations and large-scale deployments across multiple industries.

    During the past five years, Nanolumens has tripled its market share while expanding its product and application portfolio approximately fourfold with more mainstream LED solutions. The company has also doubled the number of markets it serves, as LED displays continue to replace legacy technologies in many environments. Nanolumens’ innovation and industry ecosystem advancements in pixel density, image processing and reliability have enabled LED displays to support applications that previously required other visualization technologies. These developments have contributed to broader adoption across sectors, including transportation, retail, corporate environments, and public spaces.

    Running on an Android SoC, Philips Tableaux displays can be managed and updated remotely via a content management or remote display management system such as Philips Wave or as chosen by the team at Duquesne, content can be updated manually via a USB drive.

    The project has been deemed a major success, and a second rollout phase is set to include Philips Tableaux displays in other buildings around the campus, including the School of Nursing, the School of Liberal Arts, and the College of Medicine.

So, the cost per department is more economical in the long run. When our directories need an update, we use a USB drive with the content and an extension cord for power.
