AVWeek 631: I Know Nothing

Look To The Future

Patch in your wireless communicator or any other device to the latest news surrounding the commercial side of the AV industry. Discussing the biggest stories with us is Kirkegaard Partner & Principal of Integrated Systems Design Bren Walker, Senior Regional Account Manager for Sony Professional Renee Benson, and Manager of Multimedia & AV Services for the University of Trinidad And Tobago Lisle Waldron.

Audinate reports a record in their 2023 fiscal year, shipping over one million units for their AV over IP solution Dante. According to the company, half of that came from the software side of Dante. Is this the prevailing AV over IP solution for sending audio? Looking at Audinate’s success and the landscape of networked audio moving forward.

Speaking of AV over IP and networked solutions, we take a look at RH Consulting’s metrics surrounding the last year of networked audio. It’s interesting to pair this with the last story since while Audinate is a major contender, AES67 surpasses them in spaces like mixers, loudspeakers and microphones. We look at the other facets of AV over IP like video and control and where there is potentially room to prosper.

Microsoft is promising Copilot customers legal protection surrounding copyright. Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant built into Microsoft 365 features. This Copilot Copyright Commitment is not just an amusing alliteration, but a response to recent litigation from authors against other AI platforms like Meta and OpenAI. We tread the fun conversation that is copyright and creative licenses.
