AVNation’s Brian Heidgerken is on the InfoComm 2022 show floor with Rick Kamlet, Senior Product Manager at Harman. Rick manages the commercial installation of loudspeaker products, and here in Las Vegas, Harman is introducing eight new models in that category.

Behind Brian and RIck is the Control 89. The Control Series offers a variety of landscape loudspeakers, ideal for outdoor use. These are very easy to install because they stay above ground, not requiring much excavation at all to get the high-quality sound that Harman is known for.

As more and more people want to enjoy the benefits of outdoor sound systems, they need more bass. As opposed to indoor sound, outdoor sound doesn’t have walls or other objects reinforcing sound. Instead, in outdoor applications, Harman seeks to create that base for full spectrum sound quality.

The Control Series works through all weather conditions—rain, shine, or snow. In addition, Harman has launched the GSB In-Ground Subwoofers. These require a little bit more excavation, but they’re perfect for places where customers don’t want the speakers to be seen above ground. Consumers can landscape around them so that the tops of the speakers blend in.

Some companies make in-ground speakers in such a way that the chamber is on the sides of the cap. Harman has found that landscapers often damage them without even knowing that it’s there. Instead, they put the chamber in a small cabinet directly below the part of the speaker that you can see above ground.
