Bluefin Expands Flex-OS Platform with Reef V2 Featuring Embedded Android 15 SoC

Bluefin has launched the new Reef V2 platform, now powered by an embedded Android 15 SoC. This upgrade brings faster processing, better graphics, and smoother overall performance for digital signage and interactive applications. With support for hardware-accelerated HTML5 and 4K decoding, Reef V2 ensures fluid playback and quick response times, even under heavy workloads.

Designed for the Flex-OS ecosystem, the Reef V2 platform enhances multitasking, reduces latency, and improves system stability, ideal for high-demand visual environments. The Android 15 Open Source Platform (AOSP) also ensures ongoing compatibility and security updates. Bluefin continues to support the original Reef Gen 1 while expanding options for integrators across Android, BrightSign, and Intel-based systems.

Bluefin today announced the availability of its Android 15 upgrade with the introduction of the Bluefin Reef V2, featuring an embedded Android 15 SoC. The new platform delivers a measurable boost in processing efficiency, graphical performance, and system responsiveness—enabling more demanding visual applications and smoother playback under sustained workloads.

Built on contemporary high-performance architecture, Bluefin Reef V2 features a multi-core CPU design and enhanced GPU capabilities optimized for hardware-accelerated HTML5 rendering and 4K decoding. When paired with Android 15 Open Source Platform (AOSP), the result is faster application load times, reduced input latency, and improved multitasking stability across signage and interactive environments.

Key improvements include:

  • Android 15 Open Source Platform (AOSP) for extended compatibility and security updates
  • Advanced embedded SoC architecture for high-throughput media performance
  • Smooth, stutter-free HTML5 and 4K content rendering
  • Optimized visual responsiveness for interactive and touch-enabled deployments
  • Available today on all Bluefin Flex-OS units

“The addition of Android 15 in our new Bluefin Reef V2 platform gives our partners a significant step forward in processing and visual output,” said Tim Bailey, Bluefin COO. “We’re seeing improvements in HTML5 handling, faster boot times, and stable 4K playback across a wide range of content scenarios—all critical for professional digital signage use cases.”

The Android 15 upgrade is available now on all Bluefin Flex-OS units, providing integrators with immediate access to a more efficient and capable platform for new or existing installations. Reef Gen 1 remains available and fully supported, giving customers the flexibility to choose the right solution for their performance and budget needs.

With Bluefin Reef V2 joining the lineup, Bluefin continues to expand its platform ecosystem, giving integrators more choice and control across Android, BrightSign, Intel, and other supported operating systems.
