At InfoComm 2026, AVNation’s Tim Albright stopped by the AVPro booth to speak with Tom Devine about the company’s MXnet platform and how it continues to evolve beyond traditional AV-over-IP distribution.
MXnet serves as AVPro’s AV-over-IP platform, built around the concept of matrixing audio and video across a network. According to Devine, one of the platform’s key differentiators is AVPro’s ability to control the entire network infrastructure through its own network switches. That approach allows integrators to build connected AV environments that span multiple spaces while maintaining centralized management.
At the show, AVPro demonstrated a hospitality-focused deployment that connected a casino floor, sports bar, hotel lobby, and conferencing spaces within a single MXnet ecosystem. Following AVPro’s acquisition of RTI approximately one year ago, the company has integrated RTI control capabilities into the platform. Each area can have its own customized control interface while remaining part of a larger connected system.
The approach is designed to help integrators deploy and manage complex environments across hospitality, higher education, and other large venues where multiple spaces need to work together without sacrificing operational control. Integrators retain access to system-wide controls while end users are limited to the functions appropriate for their specific area, helping maintain security and system integrity.
Another focus at InfoComm 2026 was MXnet’s ability to bring Internet Protocol (IP) camera feeds directly into the video distribution environment. Devine explained that many IP cameras already use H.264 or H.265 encoding. MXnet can ingest those streams directly through the network without requiring additional encoders or decoders.
That capability could be particularly useful for facilities that already operate extensive camera networks. Instead of maintaining separate video routing systems, organizations can distribute security camera feeds through the same MXnet infrastructure used for AV content.
For integrators and technology managers, the demonstration highlighted a growing trend toward converged AV, control, and networked video systems. By combining AV distribution, control, and camera integration within a single ecosystem, AVPro is positioning MXnet as a platform capable of supporting increasingly connected environments.
