Dendo Systems Debuts World’s First PoE Drapery Motor

Dendo Systems is introducing what it says is the world’s first Power over Ethernet (PoE) drapery motor at CEDIA Expo, expanding its RENKEI Platform for automated window coverings. The platform combines PoE-powered roller shade and drapery motors with the RENKEI Processor, allowing installers to power, control, and monitor shades over standard Ethernet infrastructure while simplifying setup and integration.

Designed for AV and smart building environments, the RENKEI Platform eliminates the need for proprietary wiring and centralized power panels by treating each motor as a network-connected device. At CEDIA Expo, visitors will see the system automatically discover, configure, group, and control motors in real time, demonstrating how network-native shading can streamline installation and improve automation workflows.

Dendo Systems, an Australian manufacturer of motor and control technology for automated window coverings, debuts the world’s first Power over Ethernet (PoE) drapery motor at Expo (Launchpad, booth 3246). The new motor forms part of the company’s broader RENKEI Platform, which brings direct Ethernet power, control and real-time position feedback to motorized roller shades and draperies.

The RENKEI Platform combines network-native PoE roller-shade and curtain motors with the RENKEI Processor, which simplifies motor discovery, limit setting, grouping in addition to providing an open API that enables easy integration with third-party automation systems.

Dendo Systems’ architecture treats every shade motor as a true network device. Instead of proprietary motor-control wiring and centralized power panels, each motor connects directly to standard Ethernet and PoE infrastructure. An internal energy buffer keeps the required PoE budget to approximately three watts per motor while supporting individual addressing, synchronized control, and real-time position feedback.

Booth visitors will experience a RENKEI PoE motor get plugged in, automatically appear in the commissioning interface, and then get configured, grouped, and controlled live. “Ours is a practical demonstration of how network-native shading can simplify installation while providing precise control and feedback to the automation system,” says Yi Liu, director of Dendo Systems Pty Ltd.

“We believe that CEDIA Expo is the perfect setting for Dendo Systems as it brings together the integrators, technology partners, and manufacturers for whom our RENKEI Platform was specifically developed,” added Liu. “Our primary goal is to introduce our brand and gather direct feedback to best build the support and distribution structure required for the market.”
