Theory Audio Design is introducing its new p9 pendant loudspeaker at CEDIA Expo 2026, with commercial availability planned for Q1 2027. The compact speaker combines a 9-inch coaxial driver, wide 120-degree dispersion, strong low-frequency performance down to 45Hz, and detailed sound in a slim, premium enclosure. It is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality audio even in low-ceiling spaces.

Built for premium residential, hospitality, restaurant, and wellness environments, the p9 offers a high-output solution without the footprint of larger loudspeakers. It will be available in both 16-ohm/70V passive and PoE versions, giving AV integrators flexibility across different installation requirements. Theory will demonstrate the p9 at CEDIA Expo 2026 in booth 1300 and HPA 202 throughout the show.

Premium audio brand, Theory Audio Design, is debuting a very capable and sophisticated pendant loudspeaker, the “p9”, at CEDIA Expo 2026. Slated for release early 2027, the p9 unites wide bandwidth, lively dynamics, high maximum output level, and refined acoustic performance, all tastefully packaged into a refined and slender profile.

Two years in development, the p9’s 9” coaxial driver is fitted with a proprietary carbon fiber sandwich low frequency diaphragm that leverages the company’s Theorem High Frequency Waveguide™ profile, providing smooth, wide dispersion of the high frequencies and very robust low frequency output down to 45Hz. Even when used in foreground music applications – no subwoofer is required.

But that’s not all. The p9 exhibits extremely wide dispersion (120-degrees) to the highest frequencies, ensuring a massive coverage area. This means everyone hears wide-band, detailed sound – even when installed in low ceiling environments. The frequency response is remarkably flat and extended, ensuring the highest accuracy and highest resolution available. Even at very low volume, the p9 delivers sound that is crystal clear, open and delicate, making it ideal for background music applications.

“Those who are amazed by our current in-ceiling, pendant, and bollard loudspeakers will be absolutely floored when they experience the p9,” said Paul Hales CEO of Theory Audio Design. “The sound quality we get from the p9 – a surprisingly slender pendant loudspeaker – rivals the sound of some large, expensive high-end floor-standing speakers in resolution, accuracy, and even bandwidth. You have to hear it to believe it.”

Astonishingly compact, the powerful high-fidelity p9 features a stunning black anodized all-aluminum enclosure that seamlessly integrates into any environment. The bezel-less coaxial driver enjoys the radiating area of a 9” driver but fits within the diameter of a typical 8” driver. This innovative and clean design allows the p9 to maximize performance while minimizing footprint. It seamlessly integrates into modern spaces such as high-end residences, restaurants, hotels, and spas, where high-quality audio and sophisticated design are paramount.

The p9 will be available in Q1 2027 in both passive (16-ohms/70V) and PoE versions. It fills a void at the premium end of the market for a high output, yet compact and flexible pendant solution for premium spaces.

See and hear p9 at CEDIA Expo 2026 in booth 1300 as well as HPA 202 (MR 202) where Theory will run demos every hour on the hour (except for 12:00 p.m.) all three days of the show.
