PPDS Gains TAA compliance on Philips Displays to Deliver 24/7 Secure Mission-Critical Solutions to the US Government

PPDS is now certified for use by the US Government. As part of continued investment, expansion, and ambitious growth strategy in North America, TAA (Trade Act Agreement) compliance now permits the procurement of Philips professional displays for Federal, State, and Local Government Institution projects and installations.

Created in 1979, TAA compliance requires products and goods considered for governmental use to be manufactured or substantially transformed in the US or in designated TAA countries*. Products for government use are available via selected commercial companies – such as distributors – with Federal Supply Schedule government contracts.

    Meeting market demand

Bringing significant new business opportunities to both PPDS and the US Government, today’s announcement follows sustained demand from PPDS’ US channel partners and includes the company’s best-selling Philips 4K D-Line** digital signage and Philips X-Line*** video wall displays, which are now fully TAA compliant and immediately available. PPDS has identified Education, Homeland Security, Justice, Commerce, Transportation, and Energy among key executive departments where it can bring positive transformative change, working benefits, and energy efficiency opportunities†.

Designed for 24/7 usage, these displays are fully equipped to meet the unique and ever-evolving current and future mission-critical needs and requirements demanded within government, including high power performance, unrivaled reliability, and military-grade security.

Seamlessly integrating onto an existing IT network, the displays can be fully configured and customized to suit any space, whether a vast and creative video wall in reception or a control room, innovative wayfinding displays in corridors, or highly collaborative and communicative solutions in offices, meeting rooms and cafeterias.

Additional Philips professional display products across the PPDS portfolio will be added in due course, which, coupled with solutions from PPDS’ evolving third-party partnerships (such as Crestron, Logitech, and Intel) are set to provide the industry’s most complete suite of visual solutions to the US Government, each with extensive customization, control, and remote management (including central) capabilities.

Franck Racapé, Head of Global Commercial for PPDS, commented, “Today’s announcement marks a significant step forward for PPDS in North America and is part of our overall long-term strategic global growth ambitions to exponentially expand Philips professional display sales. Securing TAA status on our Philips X- and D- Line products will open doors not only for us and our reseller partners but for a multitude of government departments, where our solutions can bring positive changes and significant benefits to its teams for smarter and more efficient working and communications.”

    Local focus with global strength

In North America, PPDS recently became a fully-owned subsidiary of TPV, the world’s largest provider of LCD displays, as part of the company’s accelerated ‘hypergrowth’ strategy in the US market, in which government supply will play a key focus.

PPDS’ US head office is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, with access to an unmatched global network of manufacturing facilities, strengths, and resources, including priority access to core components and materials for manufacturing continuity, and end-to-end supply chain systems, enabling full control and monitoring of logistics streams.

Bruce Wrywitzke, Director of Sales North America at PPDS added, “With TPV, PPDS is in a highly unique and privileged position, which provides vast and unrivaled benefits and resources. Allowing us – both on a local and international scale – to respond, build, and provide truly innovative and often world-first solutions to our dedicated markets when they need them, all backed by around-the-clock specialist support. Demand from our partners and the channel for our products to become TAA compliant in order for them to support government projects has been consistent and strong. Today, we’re delighted to have made that happen, beginning with our Philips D-Line and X-Line displays.”

TSItouch Teams with Sony Electronics to Offer an Integrated Touch Screen Solution for Professional BRAVIA Displays

PARAMUS, N.J. — Sony’s BZ40H series of 4K HDR displays offer even more versatility through a technology collaboration with interactive specialist TSItouch, adding infrared (IR) multi-touch technology to the 55, 65 and 75-inch models of Sony’s BRAVIA professional displays.

TSItouch Pulse Type IR technology can detect virtually any input – including a finger, gloved finger, stylus or pen – and enables true multi-touch for up to 10 simultaneous touch points. The TSItouch Pulse Type IR solution, compatible with numerous operating systems, blends ease of installation and operation with super-high precision and functionality.

TSItouch and Sony joined forces to provide an integrated multi-touch screen solution for Sony’s BZ40H series of 4K HDR professional displays.

This enhanced, feature-rich 4K touch screen series is designed with anti-glare properties, a cold-rolled steel chassis, tempered glass and a powder coated finish that provides additional protection. These new features complement the current flexibility, connectivity, ease of use and superior picture quality of BZ40H 4K HDR professional displays. The slim, energy-efficient models offer increased picture performance and brightness, a powerful processor and both 2.4/5 GHz WAP support.  The TAA and ADA compliant displays feature Pro mode, which allows for quick and easy customization to suit different environments, while One-Step Setting optimizes display settings for specific uses and applications. The BRAVIA models also contain a programmable system on a chip (SoC) platform and Android operating system that enables digital signage to run off the display without a separate media player, saving capital costs, speeding installations and minimizing maintenance. Updated cosmetic features include new terminal positions, a flat bottom bezel and a reinforced structure designed for the B2B market.

“People are familiar with and reliant upon touchscreen technology due to its ubiquity in consumer products,” said Theresa Alesso, Pro Division President, Sony Electronics Inc. “This has accelerated the move towards touch-enabled solutions and increased its demand among users, resellers and integrators in the professional realm. Adding touch screen integration to our already powerful BZ40H BRAVIA displays delivers more interactivity, creating a holistic and tactile digital signage solution that can effortlessly communicate critical information while adding enhanced protection and requiring less face-to-face contact with individuals.”

“There is a huge range of real-world applications for IR touch, from digital signage and interactive kiosks to information screens in schools, churches and big public utility control rooms,” said TSItouch CEO Gary Mundrake.  “The responsiveness and accuracy our technology brings is really nicely paired with the visual quality business buyers know they are going to get with Sony displays.”

Based in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, TSItouch is a widely respected manufacturer of touch screen and protective solutions for commercial grade displays and video walls. Along with IR solutions, TSItouch has screen solutions for Projected Capacitive and ShadowSense.  TSItouch also offers a protective solution for nearly any commercial grade display in the industry, not only video wall displays.
