Matrox at NAB 2025: Breaking Down AV Over IP with Open Standards

At NAB Show 2025, AVNation’s Tim Albright chatted with Alberto Cieri, SVP of Global Sales & Marketing at Matrox Video, to dive into the evolution of AV over IP and the growing convergence of broadcast and pro AV workflows.

Cieri unpacked how Matrox continues to innovate across multiple transport protocols, making the case for open standards like SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX as the future of flexible, scalable AV infrastructure. As AV and broadcast technologies blur, more organizations are asking: How do we adopt broadcast-grade tools for our AV environments—without being locked into proprietary ecosystems?

That’s where Matrox steps in. With IPMX, a standard derived from the broadcast-native ST 2110, integrators can now deploy broadcast-quality video over 1GbE networks, making high-end content distribution more accessible for corporate AV, education, and live event spaces.

“Open standards level the playing field,” said Cieri. “They force manufacturers to compete through innovation—not exclusivity—giving end users the freedom to build systems with best-of-breed tools.”
