  • Samsung Brings Fan-Centric Innovation to the New York Mets Pop-Up in Union Square

Samsung Brings Fan-Centric Innovation to the New York Mets Pop-Up in Union Square

Samsung Electronics America is enhancing the fan experience for the New York Mets by powering Mets House N.Y.C., an immersive pop-up shop in Union Square. As the Mets’ official display and tech partner, Samsung brings high-end visual technology like its 98-inch QHC Series and 85-inch QMC Series commercial displays to create engaging and interactive experiences. From swing analysis using Diamond Kinetics sensors to gaming on MLB: The Show, fans can connect with their team in new, tech-driven ways, all managed through Samsung’s VXT content platform.

This activation is part of a larger strategy between Samsung and the Mets to bring cutting-edge AV solutions to both the pop-up and Citi Field. Since 2021, Samsung has helped make Citi Field one of the most digitally advanced stadiums in MLB, including features like a massive 17,400-square-foot scoreboard and immersive LED installations. For IT and AV professionals, it’s a real-world example of how digital signage, cloud-based content management, and sensor-driven interactivity can elevate brand experiences in both retail and sports environments.

Samsung Electronics America is building on its multi-year partnership as the official display and technology solutions partner of the New York Mets through the team’s interactive pop-up shop, Mets House N.Y.C., in Union Square. The pop-up shop is a new and exciting multipurpose space that gives Mets fans an exclusive opportunity to engage with their favorite team outside of the ballpark.

“Mets House is more than just another pop-up shop. It provides unique and immersive experiences that are brought to life with help from Samsung,” said Andrew Grossman, Chief Growth Officer, New York Mets. “With Samsung Displays, the activations at Mets House strengthen our bond with our fans and connect us with new ones, showcasing how technology and creativity can come together to enhance the fan experience.”

Fans can swing for the fences with the interactive Mets Match Your Swing experience, an opportunity to step into the batter’s box and see how their swing stacks up against current Mets players. Using advanced sensors from Diamond Kinetics to analyze stance and swing, the experience identifies which Mets player a fan’s swing most resembles. The action comes to life on a Samsung 98-inch QHC Series Display that shows their results in real time.

Mets fans can also step into the virtual batter’s box at Mets House with the simulation video game MLB: The Show, played on the QHC Series Display. The screen delivers an immersive gameplay experience, letting pop-up shoppers play as their favorite Mets player, take the reins as manager Carlos Mendoza or command the entire team. Whether they are hitting grand slams, throwing fastballs or calling the shots from the dugout, the game paired with the screen allows fans to feel the thrill of being a part of the team.

Two Samsung 85-inch QMC Series Commercial Display transport fans through Mets history, showcasing a dynamic mix of current game highlights and archival replays of iconic moments that define the franchise — from walk-off wins to unforgettable postseason heroics. These vibrant, high-resolution screens also spotlight exclusive ticketing specials and promotions, keeping fans informed while celebrating the Amazin’ legacy of the orange and blue. All of the content across the Samsung displays in the pop-up are remotely monitored and managed by the Samsung Visual eXperience Transformation (VXT) content management system.

Mets House features themed activities, exclusive merchandise, ongoing surprise alumni appearances and experiences, including giveaways and special gifts with purchase, and other interactive elements, creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere for all who visit.

“The Mets have one of the most passionate and loyal fanbases in baseball, and they deserve an experience that reflects their love for the game,” said David Phelps, Head of the Display Division at Samsung Electronics America. “With Mets House, our goal was to go beyond a visual showcase to create an immersive environment that builds excitement for the 2025 season. Through the power of Samsung Displays, fans can connect with the legacy and spirit of Mets baseball, bringing the energy of Citi Field to the heart of Manhattan.”

Samsung and Citi Field have been working together since 2021 to make Citi Field the most technologically advanced professional ballpark in Major League Baseball. Last year, the Mets unveiled a 3D anamorphic, two-sided LED display in the stadium’s concourse, providing fans with different content ranging from scoreboard updates to player stats and advertisements from the Mets’ partners.

In 2023, the Mets unveiled its new scoreboard, totaling 17,400 square feet, making it the largest scoreboard in a professional baseball stadium. The scoreboard is double-sided, being tall enough to be seen along the highway, so the gameday experience begins before they even enter Citi Field. The stadium also features a smaller scoreboard located along the second baseline. Other displays inside the stadium include signage within the team stores at Citi Field, digital menu boards at the concession stands and signage around the concourse for advertising.

  • PPDS and E Ink celebrate 20 years of partnership at Touch Taiwan 2025 while sizing up for colour accuracy and brightness with Philips Tableaux ePaper displays

PPDS and E Ink celebrate 20 years of partnership at Touch Taiwan 2025 while sizing up for colour accuracy and brightness with Philips Tableaux ePaper displays

PPDS, the global provider of Philips Professional Displays, and ePaper tech pioneer E Ink marked 20 years of partnership at Touch Taiwan 2025. Together, they showcased their progress in ePaper display innovation, focusing on brighter, more colour-accurate, and larger Philips Tableaux displays. These energy-efficient digital signs, now available in sizes up to 32″, operate with zero power once content is loaded, making them a strong sustainable option for industries like retail and hospitality. More sizes and outdoor variants are on the horizon, with final testing already underway.

The partnership dates back to when E Ink acquired Philips’ ePaper R&D in 2005. Since then, the two have pushed the boundaries of ePaper technology, launching industry-first products and setting new standards for performance, colour precision, and energy savings. At Touch Taiwan, both companies reinforced their commitment to delivering cutting-edge, eco-friendly digital signage solutions that don’t compromise on quality, especially in demanding environments like sports, retail, and corporate spaces.

PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays, and E Ink, a global leader and pioneer of ePaper technology, started a series of 20 year anniversary celebrations at Touch Taiwan 2025. Taking part in a number of thought leadership opportunities together with E Ink during the event, PPDS also confirmed its commitment to bringing more colour accurate, larger sized Philips Tableaux ePaper displays for businesses wishing to take advantage of the dual bottom line benefits combining revenue opportunities with energy savings.

Touch Taiwan – held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei City (16-18 April) – is the largest and most significant annual technology event held in Taiwan, attracting over 300 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors over three days.

Joining E Ink for the first time at the event, and situated on Booth L717, PPDS and E Ink are aligned in their ambitions and commitment to delivering high impact, energy conscious solutions to market. The two companies enjoy a unique collaborative relationship dating spanning more than two decades, with E Ink acquiring Philips’ ePaper research and development division 20 years ago.

    Bringing bigger, brighter, better

Powering evolution together, in 2023 PPDS became the first global display manufacturer to launch a full size, full colour ePaper signage display with the multi-award-winning Philips Tableaux Series, creating a brand new category for digital signage within the AV industry and supporting businesses across almost every vertical.

Now available in 13”, 25” and 32” size variants, with more to come, Philips Tableaux is widely recognised as the world’s most energy efficient digital signage display, capable of providing vivid 24/7 images while unplugged and entirely power free. With installations around the world, Philips Tableaux is a popular replacement for businesses seeking to swap out or digitise their paper-based communications (such as retail POS and menu boards), delivering instant sustainability benefits.

And the ePaper journey with Philips Professional Displays and its customers is about to get bigger.

Speaking to the media at Touch Taiwan, Martijn van der Woude, VP Global Marketing and Business Development at PPDS, revealed that the next evolutions of the Philips Tableaux range, which will include larger form factors for indoor and outdoor use, are nearing the final stages of testing and are set to be unveiled in the coming months.

    Developing together

“We are delighted to join our friends and colleagues at E Ink here in Taiwan, celebrating 20 years of partnership together while teasing our next innovations”, said Martijn. “We were the first global display manufacturer to recognise the incredible benefits and opportunities – including sustainability – available through ePaper. Unsurprisingly, others are now joining us on the journey, and we are delighted to have pioneered this path for the industry. Continuing our incredible partnership with E Ink, we are in a prestigious position where we will always aim for the next step ahead to be at the forefront of innovation.”

Hui Lee, President of E Ink Netherlands office, added: “At E Ink, we are proud to have continued our journey and our great relationship as a technology partner for Philips Professional Displays. Together with PPDS, our companies are based in both Europe and in Taiwan, allowing us to collaborate closely as we advance this incredible ePaper technology. With a growing range – in number and in size – of Philips Tableaux ePaper displays, together we are advancing our mission to deliver a more sustainable proposition for businesses around the world.”

    No compromise on quality

“The most common question I’m asked about Philips Tableaux is when it will be available in a bigger size,” Martijn explained. “But it’s not that simple. We can only move as fast as the technology allows. Not all colour ePaper displays are made equally. Image quality and performance in both indoor and outdoor installations are often crucial to the experience and brand ambitions for our customers.

“This is particularly true for companies for whom colour accuracy needs to be precise. At Oracle Red Bull Racing, for example, the colour mix for the car liveries can change from race to race, depending on light conditions. Ensuring that consistent look and feel, always. The same is true for environments where ePaper displays may feature alongside other digital displays – inside and outside. That is one of the big reasons why Oracle Red Bull Racing selected Philips Professional Displays as their Team Partner…whether for their huge Philips LED walls or for paper replacement with Philips Tableaux, we make colour accuracy work for that brand experience.”

    The perfect match

Bart Wouters, International Product Manager at PPDS notes that, at ISE 2025, there were a number of vendors showcasing larger colour ePaper sizes, leading to questions from the media and customers alike. However, Wouters explained that bigger doesn’t always mean better, and that focusing on image quality, colour accuracy, and performance in a range of lighting environments are key to acceptance of the technology by customers across the wider marketplace.

He continued: “Unfortunately, some of the larger ePaper displays we are seeing would fall short of the expectations of our customers, especially those seeking displays for indoor use. At PPDS, we don’t compromise on quality, bringing an ePaper signage range that answers on better colours, better performance, better display management – with Philips Wave remote device management via our Android System on Chip – and better power options, including Power over Ethernet. We are working closely with E Ink on this and we aim to continue our ePaper journey at the forefront, with more world-firsts yet to come.”

    Steeped in history

PPDS was the first manufacturer to introduce ePaper signage displays to the market with the launch of the 25” Philips Tableaux model in 2023, but the roots of this technology – and partnership – trace back more than two decades.

Philips, with its heritage as a pioneer in display technologies since it introduced its first TV in the 1940s, was also instrumental in shaping the ePaper landscape, with the earliest ePaper research and development initiated by the product managers at Philips in the 1990s.

E Ink acquired Philips’ ePaper division in 2005, enabling the company to scale its manufacturing capabilities and drive technological advancements, firmly establishing itself as the world leader in ePaper technology.

These developments set the stage for innovations that continue to shape the digital signage and display industries today and were the foundations on which the Philips Tableaux range was developed.

Martijn concluded: “The journey of ePaper is a testament to the power of collaboration and leadership. Together, our companies are not only revolutionising display technology – we are bringing businesses everywhere forward for a more sustainable future.

“We look forward to continuing this incredible partnership and delivering breakthroughs in ePaper technology to the market. The next great examples of this are just around the corner, so stay tuned!!

Pennsylvania School District Extends Classroom Instruction Flexibility and Student Interaction with Epson Interactive Displays

While implementing a districtwide one-to-one device initiative, the Downingtown Area School District realized schools needed classroom technologies that better supported student devices while giving educators the flexibility and reliability needed for instruction. After surveying numerous teachers and testing various classroom technologies, the district chose BrightLink® Interactive Displays to enhance educational practices and better support teachers and students. Providing software flexibility, the displays seamlessly work with common software applications, including Office 365 and Google Workspace, eliminating the need to purchase additional software titles that often include recurring subscription fees. Featuring a built-in split screen feature, they also support simultaneous displays from both teacher and student devices, while delivering an extra-large, bright image that ensures all can interact with and see content clearly.

“Our K-12 school district needed a solution that would allow teachers to expand their lesson plans with more student interaction while also keeping up with the rapid technological advancements children are already experiencing at home,” said Bruce Lord, media and educational technology supervisor, Downingtown Area School District.

Located in the heart of Chester County, the Downingtown Area School District is the seventh largest district in Pennsylvania, serving more than 13,000 students across 16 schools and one cyber school. Aiming to standardize classroom instruction across its campuses, the district recognized the importance of versatile software and dependable technology in achieving its mission. To increase engagement and ensure all students have access to an equal learning environment, in 2011, the district launched its one-to-one student device initiative. During this trial process, educators in the district were asked to test out various technologies and note the impact on their curriculum.

The BrightLink showed the most promise for academic success throughout multiple grade levels and different learning styles. Lord noted, “Using the BrightLink, teachers across the district were able to implement new educational practices and software that seamlessly integrated with both teacher and student devices.”

Equitable access was a priority in the district’s technological transition. With district support and teacher buy-in, installations began on a staggered schedule to manage costs and labor efficiently. Once classrooms were upgraded with BrightLink, the focus shifted to preparing teachers for effective implementation. Built for simple setup and to be controlled with ease, BrightLink allowed teachers to seamlessly project multiple student screens, fostering a new level of collaboration and positive peer work.

“Teachers quickly grasped the BrightLink training and adjusted their classroom routines to suit the needs of each group of students,” said Lord. “Whether using the full whiteboard space for presentations or solving problems directly on the board, the interactive display offered versatile options and allows teachers to use the traditional whiteboard space when the projector is not on.”

The BrightLink 1485Fi Interactive Display features a nearly maintenance-free 20,000-hour laser light source,1 removing the need for lamp purchases and replacements. Plus, with automatic image adjustment, simplified calibration and a single-cable, HDBaseT® control pad, installation has never been easier. This enabled the district to focus their time on other priorities while seamlessly installing the displays across campuses, without the concern of cost or setup time.

Immediately after putting the displays to use, teachers recognized a difference in student engagement and the comprehension of the classroom material. “With an expansive display of up to 120 inches, every student in a room can easily see the content and fully immerse themselves in the material, creating a more interactive learning environment,” said Lord.

“Epson is continuing to enhance our display solutions as the needs of students and teachers evolve,” said Tom Piche, product manager, Interactive Displays, Epson America, Inc. “One-to-one device integration is often essential for schools today. By prioritizing equitable access to advanced display technology, Downingtown Area School District has enhanced engagement, collaboration and comprehension. We’re thrilled to see BrightLink’s positive impact in the classroom.”
