    Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage at NAMM 2024 Stays Connected with Clear-Com

    Clear-Com was chosen for the NAMM Show’s Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage due to its reputation in live music, Mastermind Production Group, and Arcadia system reliability. Their cutting-edge technology, Bluetooth connectivity, and innovation align with event needs.

    This January, NAMM, the esteemed annual event organized by the National Association of Music Merchants, is returning to its usual show dates of January 26-28, 2024. Often referred to as the industry’s largest stage in uniting global music technologies, NAMM is trusting Clear-Com® as the official intercom supplier for the Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage, which will showcase both up-and-coming and established musical artists. Clear-Com was brought on to the production by long-time Partner, Mastermind Production Group, who provides the majority of the Audio production infrastructure for the stage with PA being provided by Reach Communications. Chad Griswold, CEO of Mastermind states, “Clear-Com’s a natural choice for this production since they are a first choice in intercom for the touring and live music market and our first choice for all of our events in the music and corporate event spaces we work in. We used the Arcadia system last year with great success, and this year we are excited to put the latest updates to that system to the test, including the Bluetooth connectivity on FreeSpeak II beltpacks.”

    The Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage is both literally and figuratively the heartbeat of the NAMM Show, where live music performances are as much a part of the business as conferences and meetings. The announcement of artists is always eagerly anticipated, and without fail, there’s always something for everyone in the line-up.

    The Clear-Com Arcadia® Central Station system will be based at FOH, with FreeSpeak II® Wireless Intercom System and FreeSpeak Edge® wireless beltpacks dedicated to the stage management and production team members who need to roam freely around the area. HelixNet® digital wired partyline user stations will be located at key fixed locations, including the lighting director, spot ops, and for the Audio FOH, monitor, and broadcast mixing engineers. This year Griswold  plans to experiment with using Bluetooth headsets for the FreeSpeak II 1.9 GHz beltpacks; with bone induction headsets, users can maintain situational awareness (or use hearing protection for when things heat up) while staying connected on comms. This workflow promises to be especially effective for primary audio mixing engineers as it leaves their ears uncovered while still maintaining intercom connections.

Attendees will learn the skills to build and operate medium-to-large Dante networks across multiple switches, with redundant networks and share bandwidth with other services. After this session, attendees should be skilled enough to complete the Dante Level 2 Certification Test.

    CARLSBAD, Calif. – Over the past 120 years, the National Association of Music Merchants has grown from a small, domestic consortium of piano dealers into a massive educational and support organization boasting arguably the world’s best trade show dedicated to both the business and pleasure of making music. When the eagerly anticipated 2021 NAMM Show had to be canceled due to continued COVID concerns, the association quickly pivoted its focus by creating a digital alternative known as Believe in Music Week, running from January 18 to 22.

    Virtual Marketplace booth to offer eight new video sessions on a variety of topics

    L-Acoustics announces that it is fully supporting NAMM this month by sponsoring a virtual Marketplace booth, where it will be hosting a comprehensive lineup of eight unique video sessions on a variety of topics, all with live Q&A. Visitors can also book online meetings with L-Acoustics team members, chat live, and receive special access to swag and an exciting giveaway.

    Of particular note will be the booth’s keynote session, “Contour XO IEM Origins Story,” moderated by FOH Engineer Chris Rabold (Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé). This will be a Zoom “fireside chat” discussion with L-Acoustics Founder and President Dr. Christian Heil and JH Audio Founder and President Jerry Harvey. This illuminating conversation explores their origins in pro audio and how they came to collaborate on the recently-launched Contour XO in-ear monitor.

    Anaheim, CA — Powersoft has been announced as a nominee for the 35th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards in the category of Outstanding Technical Achievement in Amplification Hardware/Studio & Sound Reinforcement.     Designed with the rental market in mind, the Powersoft T Series is an ultra-reliable and efficient amplifier platform available in 3,000 W and 6,000 W versions supporting channel powers from 750 W to 3,000 W in a single rack unit.     Allen & Heath is once again among the pro audio and sound production nominees spread across the 23 technical achievement categories comprising the 35th Annual TEC Awards. With its dLive Mixing System joining five others in the Large Format Console category, Allen & Heath’s SQ Digital Mixer Series has found a spot among the six contenders within the Small Format Console category.

    “This year the TEC Awards have attracted quite a number of truly innovative submissions,” Allen & Heath USA marketing manager Jeff Hawley said recently. “As one of our industry’s most notable showcases, the entries have grown in both number and the degree of technical evolution. We’re seeing future trends playing out across this stage that are unique, and sometimes just plain amazing.”

    Presented annually by The NAMM Foundation in conjunction with The NAMM Show, the TEC Awards recognize the individuals, companies, and technical innovations behind the audio heard in recordings, live performances, films, television, video games, and multimedia. Final voting for this installment of the enduring awards show begins this November. Winners will be announced in Anaheim, California on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

    The SQ Series won in the 34th TEC Awards Small Format Console category, along with seven other award wins last awards season, including the MMR Dealers’ Choice Awards ‘Product of the Year’.

    “Both of the major Allen & Heath product updates nominated for TEC Awards were largely focused on live monitor mixing workflows and features,” notes Hawley. “The SQ Series V1.3 brought software additions like a Listen bus and External Input to PAFL, which paired with new I/O hardware and network cards to expand FOH / Monitor split options.
