    Audinate Completes Acquisition of Silex Insight Video Business

    Audinate Group Limited (ASX:AD8), developer of the professional AV-industry leading Dante® media networking solution, is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of the video business of Silex Insight SA (“Silex”), based in Belgium (transaction initially announced 13 December 2021).  The Silex video business produces video networking products for manufacturers of AV equipment.

    The acquisition of the Silex video business allows Audinate to accelerate its strategic vision for integrated audio and video over IP and adds breadth and depth to its AV-over-IP product lineup.  In addition, the transaction increases video FPGA expertise within the company and cements critical mass for its video engineering team in Europe.

    “Since the development of our first Dante AV product we have been committed to bringing the simplicity and interoperability of Dante to the video-over-IP market,” states Audinate co-founder and CEO Aidan Williams.  “With this acquisition, we are doubling down on that strategy. The video codecs and deep product expertise in the team, in combination with our Dante networking technology, will enable us to go to market with a variety of full-service video offerings.”

    Silex Insight unleashes its new Colibri video codec for AV over IP

    MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium – Silex Insight, a leading provider of video codec and AV over IP solutions, has developed a video codec with industry-leading quality, and powerful features called Colibri. It is the smartest video codec Silex Insight has ever developed and the first one designed specifically for the AV over IP market with focus on graphical elements for distribution over 1GbE network.

    The Professional Audio/Video market moves rapidly to IP. The majority of the codecs developed for the Pro-AV industry, are focused on optimizing the video content (such as JPEG 2000). However, it has shown that they cannot preserve a high quality on complex graphical content needed for the main Pro-AV use case: 4K60 over 1GbE. This is why Silex Insight has developed the Colibri codec, to fill this gap.     Offers a unique lightweight solution to build a multiview application with many video channels (as many simultaneous streams you need).
