Ventuz Technology Signs Landmark Agreement with Outernet Global

HAMBURG – Ventuz Technology AG announced a landmark technology partnership with Outernet Global Ltd. a major new entertainment and immersive media district due to open in London in late 2021.

Outernet is a global network of immersive media and culture districts designed to provide experiences for entertainment, brand activation and retail the likes of which have never been seen before. London will kick off a global roll out with further sites planned in New York, Los Angeles, and Europe.

Outernet will feature the world’s first of its kind public atrium – The Now Building – containing an immense digital canvas: a 4-storey high, floor to ceiling, 360-degree, 16K screen surface – the most advanced of its kind on the planet. A daily footfall of 400,000 people are set to experience this new London landmark.

Ventuz CEO Ralf Stanke emphasizes the importance of the collaboration: “We are truly excited to partner with Outernet Global in making the world’s largest LED screen project in the heart of London a reality with our real-time graphics content creation, authoring, and playout systems.”

With 2,260 square meters of LED screens, Outernet’s media space requires the simultaneous rendering and output of hundreds of millions of pixels in real-time and Outernet found the right technology partner in Ventuz, whose real-time software solutions offer freely scalable, resolution-independent content creation and playout.

Mike Whittaker, Outernet Global CTO said, “What we are building with Outernet is so extraordinary it far exceeds the usual technology solutions. We have developed a best-in-class integrated solution that allows us to work in real-time across LED canvases of 16K that deliver the best immersive experience to our clients and audiences. Ventuz technology is key to enabling us to meet the challenge of large-scale real-time in a way never seen before.”

“What’s so fascinating about the Outernet is its unique and innovative approach to creating a multimedia experience that lives from its fluid and responsive immediate interactivity with the audience, situational triggers, and the flexibility of an artistic show direction,” Stanke adds. “This mix of sensorial liveliness and editorial freedom can be achieved only in an ultramodern installation such as Outernet by means of complex image processing in real time that goes beyond conventional media server applications managing linear content.”

Ventuz enables this paradigm shift, away from channel-based playback of pre-produced content towards the live creation of the high-resolution synthesis of moving pictures in the moment of action.

“It’s fantastic to see our Ventuz software and hardware as part of a multimedia backdrop and cultural stage that offers such a lively, welcoming, and almost futuristic, experience to a broad audience,” says Stanke.

Samsung Reshapes the Display Market with The Wall

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – Samsung Electronics America proudly announces the global launch of the 2021 model of The Wall (IWA Series). The boundary-pushing Micro LED display is designed for businesses seeking elevated viewing through complete immersion and brilliant picture quality. With new AI processing technology, upgraded 120Hz frame rates and versatile installation, The Wall once again reimagines display technology to give businesses boundless flexibility to showcase content.

“At Samsung, we are dedicated to helping businesses create unforgettable customer experiences through the power of dynamic displays,” said Harry Patz, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “The Wall is the crown jewel of Samsung’s expansive display line-up. Its cutting-edge new features, unrivalled picture quality, and limitless sizing, make the 2021 model our most immersive and versatile display yet.”

A new Micro AI Processor instantly analyses and optimizes every frame of video to deliver the best picture quality possible. By using up to 16 different neural network models, each trained in AI upscaling and deep learning technology, the Micro AI Processor can optimize picture quality to any size up to 8K resolution, enhancing contrast and removing noise.

The Wall’s first-of-its-kind Black Seal Technology blankets the screen with perfect uniformity, creating a seamless canvas for purer black levels with enhanced depth delivering unparalleled contrast and immaculate detail. Ultra Chroma technology produces narrower wavelengths that create RGB colors twice as pure and more accurate than conventional LEDs. Each LED is now up to 40% smaller, increasing the pure black space between pixels for more color uniformity and higher picture contrast.

2021’s The Wall makes installation easier thanks to new wireless docking connections and endless design, resulting in a cabinet depth twice as slim as before.  With modular technology, The Wall can be installed in a variety of positions, including concave, convex, ceiling, hanging, inclined and L-type. Plus, installers need to adjust just once per cabinet with Factory Seam Adjustment, eliminating module-by-module adjustment and saving time.

Furthermore, this new model offers its most detailed picture yet with the industry’s first 8K resolution with 120Hz refresh rate and Simple 8K playback. The Wall can be configured horizontally for up to 16K resolution with a 15,360 x 1,080-pixel arrangement. Its massive screen measures in at over 1,000 inches, creating a completely expansive canvas for showcasing content.

The Wall comes built with Micro HDR and Micro Motion features, featuring 20-bit processing to deliver a consistent picture quality that is suitable across commercial environments for a super smooth viewing experience no matter the location. The screen also includes four picture-by-picture screens (PBP), allowing for four different content sources, all of which can be displayed simultaneously in 4K resolution. The 4-PBP function can be used for business purposes where multi-screens are needed, such as a control center.

All of The Wall’s features are delivered with safety top of mind. TUV Rheinland awarded its Eye Comfort Certification for minimized blue light emission, while its EMC Class B certification minimizes electromagnetic waves for safe installation in homes.
