Palmer Digital Group Ships First Battery-Powered Kiosk Solutions

Palmer Digital Group (PDG) has launched its first battery-powered digital kiosks, designed for retail and hospitality settings, including quick-service restaurants (QSRs) and fast-casual dining. The portable kiosks, available in multiple screen sizes, offer up to 24 hours of battery life, eco-friendly materials, and versatile mobility, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments. Their long battery life and quick-charge capability enable businesses to deploy them quickly and efficiently for various promotional and customer engagement activities, such as pop-up stores or live events.

These new kiosks also offer businesses valuable data insights through wireless occupancy sensors that track customer movement, allowing retailers to optimize the placement of kiosks based on customer traffic. With features like built-in speakers, LTE connectivity, customizable screens for touch-enabled applications, and high-brightness displays, these kiosks can enhance customer interaction and improve operational efficiency, while providing eco-friendly solutions for sustainability.

Palmer Digital Group, a full-service supplier and installer of indoor and outdoor digital kiosks, drive-thru digital menu boards and canopy systems, has started shipping its first battery-powered kiosk for retail and hospitality environments including QSRs and fast casual restaurants. Previewed at the National Restaurant Association Show in May, the kiosk provides a highly sustainable and portable options for indoor and outdoor environments while retaining the rugged durability and exceptional craftsmanship of PDG’s DC-powered kiosks and digital menu boards.

Available in single- or dual-sided configurations, PDG’s new Digital Portable Poster Stands across empower businesses to showcase products and services in any scenario. With four screen size options (24, 32, 43 and 50-inch), long battery life, diverse color options and a selection of portable casters, the kiosks are built for presentation and mobility in versatile promotional applications. That includes dynamic retail environments such as popups, experiential activations (such as museums and exhibits), or even scheduled audience gatherings for tradeshows and live events.

The long battery life is the most valuable benefit for customers, offering up to 24 hours of juice and quick-charge capability for immediate deployment. Safety and dependability are also paramount with the choice of specialized, eco-friendly batteries that offer wide temperature tolerance, low toxicity and an extended lifespan with more than 3000 charge cycles.

That battery life, along with its smooth mobility and sturdy structure, also raises opportunities for retailers to gather data on customer journeys. That application is supported through a wireless occupancy sensor built into the base of the kiosk that help businesses generate actionable insights by monitoring dwell time and passing traffic, while informing merchandising decisions. “Businesses can gather this data within a five-to-50-foot radius, and when appropriate, easily move and reposition to new strategic positions that capture the typical customer’s path through the store,” said Chuck Lewis, Vice President, Palmer Digital Group.

Lewis adds that the ability to use different casters makes it viable for movement across standard floors inside as well as outdoor concrete or blacktop surfaces. There also the ability to quickly lock down the wheels for a more permanent or multi-day position where heavy foot traffic. The structure also supports built-in speakers for accompanying audio tracks to the visual presentations, supported through LTE mobile connectivity, WiFi networks, or optional media players.

PDG will also offer customized screen options to support touch-enabled applications such as mobile ordering and wayfinding, as well as high-brightness displays (1000-3000 nits) for optimized performance in direct sunlight.

“Digital signage already creates a more than 8-0% recall level with customers that engage with screen content,” said Lewis. “Our new battery-powered kiosks will help a variety of brands and organizations enhance the ways they engage with their customers and audiences, while also revolutionizing their strategies for sustainability and operational efficiency.”

Alongside, PDG showcased updates to its outdoor digital menu boards, audio enclosures, and VoiceAI-ready integrations catering to the growing tech demands of modern quick-service restaurants. These innovations aim to make digital signage more versatile, efficient, and future-ready.

Palmer Digital Group, a full-service supplier and installer of indoor and outdoor digital kiosks, drive-thru digital menu boards and canopy systems, has  broadened its range of display solutions to serve more installation points and design needs in the QSR and retail markets. The National Restaurant Association Show beginning Saturday at Chicago’s McCormick Place marks the public debut of a new ceiling-mount indoor digital display, bringing more versatility to integration options and customer sightlines.

PDG will also preview a new battery-powered Indoor kiosk series developed in collaboration with key manufacturing partners. Debuting this year, the design comes in a variety of colors and also comes with wheels for easy placement. PDG exhibits at Booth 6070.

The new ceiling-mount indoor digital display offers an alternative to window-printed static graphics that is increasingly popular in QSRs. The 55-inch display suspends from a secure mounting system and offers an overall clean aesthetic for indoor environments. The display structure includes a built-in media player and power supply at the top.

PDG’s new display solutions will share space with selections from the company’s range outdoor digital menu boards, available in single, double and triple menu board configurations. Palmer Digital Group Brings QSR Strategy to Restaurant Franchising and Innovation Summit

Palmer Digital Group (PDG) is expanding its presence at industry events, starting with the Restaurant Franchising & Innovation Summit in Myrtle Beach from March 11-13. At Booth 35, PDG will showcase its QSRDMB255 outdoor digital menu board, designed to help quick-service restaurants (QSRs) enhance customer experiences and boost sales. The system integrates with digital signage software, allowing businesses to promote menu items, special deals, and advertisements effectively. PDG’s solutions are built for easy installation, offering flexibility for in-house teams or professional installers.

PDG’s Vice President, Chuck Lewis, highlighted the company’s focus on affordable digital solutions for smaller and mid-sized QSR chains. Their innovative pedestal-based menu boards are lightweight yet durable, simplifying installation with minimal manpower. With added features like secure media shelving and side-mount audio enclosures, PDG ensures businesses can create engaging customer experiences while streamlining operations. PDG will continue showcasing its technology at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago this May.

Palmer Digital Group, a full-service supplier and installer of indoor and outdoor digital kiosks, drive-thru digital menu boards and canopy systems, has designated next week’s Restaurant Franchising & Innovation Summit in Myrtle Beach as the launch point for an expanded trade show and conference strategy in 2025. The show, which has a theme of powering franchise growth through technology and leadership, will also offer a glimpse into PDG’s strategy for the National Restaurant Show in Chicago in May where the company will introduce a new self-service indoor kiosk.

Exhibiting at Booth 35 (March 11-13), Palmer Digital Group (PDG) will demonstrate its industry-leading QSRDMB255 outdoor digital menu board with a core strategy of introducing franchisees to PDG’s technology and value proposition as an all-in-one supplier. PDG designs and builds all its indoor and outdoor digital menu board structures in house, and is the only supplier serving this space to offer in-house installation services. Its pedestal-based outdoor digital menu boards have proven especially popular with QSR and fast casual chains, requiring just two technicians to lift the durable yet lightweight structures into place.

PDG experts will demonstrate the QSRDMB255’s features to franchisees and other attendees with an emphasis on how they contribute to the QSR’s bottom line. Those features include interoperability with digital signage software for dynamic presentation of menu items, limited time offers and ads that help customers make informed decisions while inspiring additional purchases.

“We work closely with QSR and fast casual businesses of all sizes, and we find that many smaller to mid-sized local and regional chains presume that transitioning from static to digital menu board systems are beyond their budgets,” said Chuck Lewis, Vice President, Palmer Digital Group. “We offer many options from single to triple-display digital menu board systems to meet each customer’s budget, and our all-in-one designs bring all required infrastructure together to ensure secure installations.”

Lewis adds that PDG’s pedestal structures can be installed by an in-house team to reduce costs, or customers can opt to use PDG’s installation services or a third-party integrator for pedestal or canopy systems. “We will work with all customers to ensure new digital menu board systems are properly specified, and consult with contractors and end users on installation points to ensure proper heights, sightlines and visibility of menu board content,” said Lewis. “These are the important pieces that help our customers increase customer receipts and create memorable consumer experiences.”

All PDG outdoor menu board solutions include simple network and electrical connections for dynamic media content and local power, along with shelving for media players and routers. Options include PDG’s convenient side-mount audio enclosure, which accommodates microphones and speakers in a protective housing securely attached to the menu board structure.

The Restaurant Franchising & Innovation Summit takes place March 11-13 at the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes.

  • Palmer Digital Group Moves into Larger Office Space to Accommodate Business Growth

Palmer Digital Group Moves into Larger Office Space to Accommodate Business Growth

Palmer Digital Group specializes in custom digital kiosks, display enclosures, and menu boards, with installation capabilities, handling high voltage and low voltage, and necessary concrete work.

Palmer Digital Group (PDG) has moved into a new 2500 square-foot office space to accommodate rapid business growth over its first five years. The move allows PDG to add new equipment like a laser machine and robot welder and supports expanding their workforce.

The expansion is driven by PDG’s consistent year-on-year growth of 40-50% since 2019 and the increasing demand for their digital kiosks and menu boards in both the retail and restaurant industries. The new space and equipment will help accelerate manufacturing processes and accommodate the growing business and workforce needs.

Palmer Digital Group, a full-service supplier and installer of indoor and outdoor digital kiosks, drive-thru digital menu boards and canopy systems, has moved into a new 2500 square-foot office space to accommodate the company’s rapid business growth over its first five years. The new space was redesigned from the ground up as an extension of the existing facility, with PDG’s previous office space vacated and returned to Palmer Digital Group’s parent company, Industrial Enclosure Corporation (IEC), for other business functions related to its electronics enclosure manufacturing operation.

Palmer Digital Group (PDG) worked with outside architects and contractors to design and prepare the new workspace, which includes four offices, five cubical spaces, one large meeting room and a cafeteria. The space was previously a storage space for an outside company, and PDG brought in various teams to raise walls, add flooring and run electrical among other needs to support business operations. PDG has retained the existing workshop and warehouse space where its digital menu boards, kiosks and other indoor/outdoor structures are designed and built, adding a new laser machine and robot welder to accelerate the manufacturing process.

The new space will remain the headquarters to all business functions including sales, finance and manufacturing, with plenty of room to accommodate new employees as jobs are created. That includes new engineering and high-level customer service positions that PDG are actively seeking to fill.

IEC and PDG founder John Palmer purchased the building that today houses both companies in 1976 ten years after the building’s first tenant, Aurora Pump, vacated the premises in 1966 following a 47-year tenancy. Palmer launched PDG in late 2018 with assistance from PDG Vice President Chuck Lewis, who approached Palmer to discuss what he saw as an emerging business need in the retail and restaurant industry. Based on the company’s success to date, it appears Lewis was onto something.

“Palmer Digital Group has seen year-on-year growth of 40-to-50 percent since 2019, and there are no signs of slowing down,” said Lewis. “That kind of growth creates the need to bring more skilled labor into the company to support our business and technical operations. Our QSR business has been very strong in our first several years and we continue to win major digital menu board projects that include our turnkey structures and installation services. What’s perhaps more exciting is that the retail side of our business is beginning to take off, which means we see growing interest in our indoor and outdoor touchscreen kiosk solutions.”

The new laser machine and robot welder will also be instrumental to that growth, according to Lewis. “The new laser machine will operate on a 24/7 basis, and will be functioning at night to accommodate tasks that can be automated,” he said. “The robot welder will be used to weld pedestals and vertical seams found on our digital menu board structures, and will complete jobs twice as fast.”

Palmer Digital Group’s business and manufacturing operations are located at 619 N Loucks Street in Aurora, Illinois.
