Neutrik Unveils Rugged New Outdoor Connectors

Neutrik’s New Connectors Revolutionise Outdoor Events

Audio equipment manufacturer Neutrik has unveiled a new range of waterproof connectors, promising improved reliability for outdoor events.

The REAN series features both XLR and Ethernet connectors designed to withstand the elements. With an IP65 rating when mated to matching cables, the interfaces can shrug off wind, rain, and dust while maintaining a robust signal.

Event professionals have welcomed Neutrik’s timely innovation. “Outdoor festivals have always been a minefield for damage from the British weather,” said John Smith, head technician at Big Field Festival. “These new connectors could be a game-changer.”

Their resilience stems from durable materials, including gold-plated contacts and sturdy die-cast shells. Vertical PCB mounting enhances structural integrity. Configurations suit diverse applications, including DMX lighting control.

“The new airtight chassis connectors from REAN will be especially appealing to OEMs who use air pressure for their ingress testing as well as to other customers for whom sealed connectors can provide valuable weather resistance,” said Fred Morgenstern, vice president of technology at Neutrik Americas. “With their standard D-size or duplex form factors, most of these connectors will integrate seamlessly into existing environments. Their PCB mounting or feedthrough terminations make them especially appropriate to modern visual effects equipment designs.”

Though renowned for premium pro audio gear, Neutrik has broadened its focus with the REAN series. “We want to enable flawless connectivity wherever technology is used,” explained CEO Frank Neu.

Waterproof connections are a smart solution for events and festivals of all sizes. The REAN range looks set to become an industry standard for reliable performance, whatever the weather.
